What if Rainer Werner Fassbinder had made "Cruising?" Would Die Radierer be a part of the soundtrack? I would hope so!

I'm lying down now, but I'll still be within aural reach, listening.

I think that cover was on Scott Williams' premium a few years ago

Thanks, Fred! I'll have to check US Girls out! Have heard of, but not yet heard.

google delivers zero about jeri cain rossi. yes u.s. girls is excellent!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:43am
fred:

@Adam: There is plenty of her "US Girls on Kraak" in the archives. Her earlier stuff featured some cool covers with insane reverb, like singing in a concrete tunnel
Avatar 6:45am
fred von helsing:

concrete tunnel, that's hot :-P
  6:45am
Adam in Portland and Lynnwood:

@Fred: that description certainly has me thinking I will easily fall for it then. Music that sounds like Atari's Pong looks tugs at me correctly.
  6:47am
Adam in Portland and Lynnwood:

Dear Annika, Jeri and the like, I'm available for concrete tunnels.

hey thomas and all
"attack on the land of milk and honey" is more or less
the radierer title
  6:48am
Adam in Portland and Lynnwood:

Thanks, Kim!
  6:49am
Adam in Portland and Lynnwood:

I think "Laid Back in the Land of Milk and Honey" would have been more suitable, had it been featured in Fassbinder's never even considered version of Cruising.
  6:50am
Adam in Portland and Lynnwood:

....Silk and Honey?
  6:59am
Adam in Portland and Lynnwood:

Thomas, I commend you, for getting up at who knows when after a Saturday night to start playing such memorable music at 6:00 a.m. on Sunday mornings. That really takes some commitment and desire.

thanks, Adam - been up since 4PM yesterday, actually - marathon sleep patterns still working themselves out!

Adam in Portland and Lynnwood:

Vampyrism is so sexy in theory. In practice it can be an altogether different proposition. Haha.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:11am
fred:

Thomas, do you often do your show without sleeping at all?
  7:15am
Adam in Portland and Lynnwood:

I recently read an interview with Harmony Korine in which he describes Gucci Mane's involvement in a simulated sex scene while asleep.
Avatar 7:15am
Thomas:

not often - i usually sleep an hour or two. got me a small cup of coffee and a pile of records, no problem
  7:17am
Adam in Portland and Lynnwood:

Record shards pressed against the skin = great wake up tools.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:18am
fred:

I'm impressed: I'm usually even worse off after sleeping two hours than without any sleep
  7:19am
Adam in Portland and Lynnwood:

@fred: I'm with you. I'm useless on two hours of sleep.
  7:21am
Adam in Portland and Lynnwood:

....and with that reminder, I bid you all, "Adieu." For sleep. But, thank you for this great show, Thomas. I'll listen past the wake/sleep threshold.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:22am
fred:

And the "small cup of coffee" isn't for me either: a sure way to tell I've been up all night is that I come to work after a stop at Starbucks. Only place I can get a pint of coffee. I've never been there except for these emergencies

Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:12am
fred:

The director addressed us peons at work on Friday, and he concluded his presentation with snippets from a Bergman film. Something with a white clown. It worked: there were no questions, and even I couldn't pull off any disparaging comments for a bunch of minutes. I'm still puzzled by that clown though
Avatar 8:13am
fred von helsing:

wow, Bergman on PowerPoint is a band name but what is the musical style

Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:20am
fred:

There's even a HNW project named Clougnioule, so there's precedent
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:24am
fred:

I still wonder about that presentation: was he really using Bergman to make a point (I can't rule it out, I work in a weird place), or was he just stunning us into speechlessness (Bergman can do that)
Avatar 8:25am
fred von helsing:

Clougnioule, that's a great word. Tastes like fish.

Hi THomasss!
So I came downstairs this morning to feed my cat - where I found my Mom and Little Brother Johnny awake already and listening to your show.

Hi Fred and Adam and errybuddy hello!
Avatar 8:27am

He used Bergman to emphasize the mortality of his audience. If you die tomorrow, will your powerpoints endure forever ?
