The sun's shining here in Basingstoke in the UK. Feels a bit like summer, except it's 0 degrees celsius out there! Great show by the way.

I remember the New England garage revival band Plan 9 doing a great version of the great Moving Sidewalks' song Flashback... I saw them at the Rat in Boston in the summer of '84...

Mary Wing:

The only song I know which mentions Basingstoke is "I Often Dream of Trains" by Robyn Hitchcock. :-)

Hi Mary. There is another song. Towers of Basingstoke by Robb Johnson. But the Hitchcock one is much cooler. Basingstoke is mainly known as the home of Elizabeth Hurley and Burberry.

Mary Wing:

Towers of Basingstoke sounds like an XTC song, heh.

Jim Barker:

Hi Rob. Typical that there should be train recordings under a Basingstoke search. We seem to be quite a trainy town!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:35am
Rob Weisberg:

Why yes I suppose it is Jim - ! My adopted hometown of Hoboken NJ is a bit trainy too, we do have a nice old station, a former Erie Lackawanna Railroad hub. But unlike Basingstoke, as far as I can tell we have not been honored with a sound effects LP track...
  4:38am
Jim Barker:

I went to Hoboken once. I saw Archers of Loaf at Maxwell's in 1995. (American Studies degree, one semester at Rutgers.) Nice place. I liked NJ a lot, and I still think of it with fondness.
