...see what sunny climates do to people : ) ...

I have a theory. All this ready access to music on the internet is raising the general standard of musicianship. Folk/acoustic music has never been healthier...

morning, folks. Revolution Rabbit: have you slept? And if so, were you still listening to fmu?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:43am
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

- Interesting idea. I wonder how Music would be dif. now w/out interwebz & comparable technology (as much - ? - a fool's ponder as what would have happened w/out The Beatles)
...I often think (...& speak of...) of Donovan saying his lot learned Blues off 78RPM's (not easy) - & George Harrison saying couldn't get a cup of sugar Post-War Liverpool - much less a R'n'R record.
- Having just got highspeed internet @ home myself - I still feel like I'm adjusting to suddenly handling a gushing firehose of options (FMU Programs & Archives alone!) - & now it's about managing available Time.
...Don't forget Population Expansion. More people to join any Movement.
- I think Technical standards in Music have increased - but that of course does not (of itself) equal Artistry. Not that I disagree w/ you necessarily...

There is a lot more access to good music now, but theres also a lot more bad music. it can be like sifting through a pile of garbage to find a diamond
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:48am
Mike East:

thats why the leaders now are the curators...like wfmu for example

Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

I slept but not as much as would like (nothing new there). However, today is my 1st day back to work after a little staycation. Confess - I crapped out of listening to FMU half-way thru the night & switched to Jazz24 to try & improve sleep - but have listened to FMU alnight - prob. more often than not lately! Reminds me of being a kid & having that sort of enthusiam for filling myself up w/ something!

moderation, son. don't want to get a tummy ache :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:53am
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

- 1st you get the tummyache - then you Moderate. Everybody knows that.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:55am
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Board seems very 'zippy' - ? I almost wonder if the Good Wizard Kenzo has begun the Modifications...do not meddle in the ways of Wizards...

Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Wow. High praise for Simon Joyner. The name sounds familiar but I couldn't have placed it...Would I have ever heard this elsewhere? KCRW? 'All the Traditions' on local VermontPublicRadio? Radio Free Americana?
- & the AccuPlaylist is a sure cut above...

- Blessings on Thee.

Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...things like the Economy or other Social conditions can effect people's orientaion to Music & thus the Movements. Sometimes they aren't into Downbeat stuff @ all
...it takes a kind of Darwinian Incubator - a Greenwich Village, Liverpoool, Austin, Seattle - a place big enuff for a scene, but isolated enuff for unique Mutations...
- How the 21st Century Post-Mod Technology alters this calculus is the question, alright...

Wow! That "A Celebration" start off song has a STRONG Suishio No Fune sound / feel to it!! *ME LIKES!*
Avatar 8:34am
Van in DC:

Re-listening, with headphones on this time. And yes, the guitar sounds of "A Celebration" are incredibly reminiscent of Suishou no Fune, whom I first heard on Scott's Long Rally show not so long ago.

Listen to "Becoming a Flower" on the FMA live stuff from Scott's show here:
