Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:12pm Stevel:

[ahem] Voivod. Indeed. [ahem]
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:13pm coe:

Have to admit I got into The Gits unfourtunatly through all the publicity of Mia's death always made me feel a bit sleezy. What a lose what a great band and they probably had so much more in them.
Avatar 12:14pm dcp:

how do I do caps lock for 2-3?
Avatar 12:16pm Jennique:

Voivod sounds like Rocket from the Crypt a little bit.
Avatar 12:17pm Dr. Goot:

Boots to the Glutes!!!
Avatar 12:19pm dcp:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:19pm coe:

The great and mighty Pere Ubu.
Avatar 12:22pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

well-done DCP. It's either an enthusiastic endorsement of 2-3 or an crack squad of riot-cops in helmets & kevlar vests...
Avatar 12:25pm Cheri Pi:

Hail Satan is right!!!
Avatar 12:25pm dcp:

Avatar 12:26pm Cheri Pi:

Nice cawsicles on Gomez RTD.
Avatar 12:26pm Cheri Pi:

VoivoD!!! I was at lunch.
Avatar 12:27pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Cheers for Damned. Good one.
Avatar 12:28pm dcp:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:28pm coe:

God The Damned are such a great F@@KING band.
Avatar 12:31pm dcp:

Avatar 12:31pm dcp:

Holy crap, LOT of stars already...
Avatar 12:32pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Same here DCP. I go for a week & forget about the whole star thing, then catch up like a beeitch during shows like this...
Avatar 12:33pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

...must've played the Sue P. archive from Tuesday about 3 times, starred the everlovin' hell out of that thing.
Avatar 12:33pm Cheri Pi:

IH are my new favorite feel-good band.
Avatar 12:34pm Cheri Pi:

I did the same thing RTD! I starred all but 3 songs.
  12:34pm common:

Avatar 12:34pm Cheri Pi:

Starred it all so far.
Avatar 12:36pm dcp:

another cool thing would be a page that displays the songs with the most stars--should be pretty easy.....Kenzo....taptaptaptap.....
Avatar 12:38pm InBrkly:

but then eventually this would become an echo chamber and I come back to wfmu to hear things that are new to me.
Avatar 12:38pm Cheri Pi:

Thank god Diane, I need a breath of air for my body to continue living, WHAT a blazing set,.
Avatar 12:39pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Civil Disobedience for Losers: brilliant effing release title.
  12:42pm emmagineering:

sounds like bed music still going in background, Diane. enjoying The show :)
Avatar 12:44pm dcp:

InBrkly: seriously doubt that'd ever happen given the talent/insight/etc of FMU djs...besides they don't give a shit what we like!
Avatar 12:45pm InBrkly:

good point.
Avatar 12:46pm dcp:

jeezus h. fekking keerist! can someone please un-invent email???
Avatar 12:46pm Cheri Pi:

Avatar 12:47pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Zorro will not be silenced!
Avatar 12:47pm dcp:

DC in da house.
Avatar 12:47pm Jim Devoid:

I dig the other side to this Soulside ep, think it was called 104?
Avatar 12:48pm Sem Chumbo:

@dcp:did you get that telepathic thing I sent you? I'll send an email reminder about it. Or should I call?
Avatar 12:48pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

What? Jeezus. This brings me back. Didn't think anybody knew about Soulside besides us farts in this little town. Seems like they were on every bill circa '88/'89.
Avatar 12:50pm Cheri Pi:

I'm only like 1 year behind you RTD....
Avatar 12:50pm dcp:

I think a carrier pigeon is in order...
Avatar 12:51pm Jim Devoid:

Soulside/Swiz/American Standard was a typical bill here in the NE around the late 80's. Option was to also include Verbal Assault.
Avatar 12:51pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Swiz was a blast.
Avatar 12:53pm InBrkly:

to bad VA only ever made the 1 album
Avatar 12:53pm Sem Chumbo:

I'll shave a slave's head, tattoo the message on it, wait for the hair to grow back and send him to you via Amtrak, instead.
Avatar 12:54pm Jim Devoid:

@RTD- agree with ya! Swiz usually wins out in my 'later' DC listening choices.

The VA 12" 'On' wasn't bad, just not as good as the LP!
Avatar 12:55pm dcp:

good choice, can't be too careful these days.
Avatar 12:57pm dcp:

WELL? EMAIL? UNINVENT?? I'm getting a freakin email a minute!!
  12:57pm Cecile:

  1:01pm Rufus J Squirrel:

I still have that AmRep comp, Diane.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:03pm coe:

@Cheri is that Air the group or the element?
Avatar 1:03pm slugluv1313:

BUY OUR RECORDS!!! ahhhhh . . . happily, i still have a bunch of those LPs!!! :D
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:04pm coe:

How about Grand High Exalted Puba?
Avatar 1:06pm InBrkly:

I always confused it with Better Youth Org (BYO Records)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:08pm coe:

Lenny start the kickstarter I'll chip in to get that comp out.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:08pm tim from champaign:

Flag of Democracy records were my favorite on Buy Our Records. Lots of humor with kick ass music.
Avatar 1:08pm Cheri Pi:

The element Coe. There's 3: Air, Voivod & beer.
Avatar 1:12pm slugluv1313:

Pussy Galore, Honeymoon Killers, Big Stick, Children in Adult Jails, PMS, AOD, etc. etc. etc. <3
Avatar 1:13pm InBrkly:

I thought Pussy Galore was on Matador
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:14pm coe:

Devilhaus are art work maddogs. I love the Devilhaus cd.
Avatar 1:14pm slugluv1313:

Pussy Galore on a number if different labels -- i think Caroline Records too
Avatar 1:19pm InBrkly:

I love getting this history.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:19pm coe:

One of the former members of PMS does tattoos for my wife and I :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:20pm coe:

Avatar 1:20pm slugluv1313:

@ coe -- WAY COOL bout the tattoos!!!!
Avatar 1:21pm Cecile:

  1:22pm Asanarama:

Wait... FMU-worthy stuff happens at the Stanhope House? I guess I'll have to maintain better awareness of what's happening there. It's nearby.
Avatar 1:24pm Cheri Pi:

This is FUN!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:28pm coe:

STanhope house is becoming a pretty cool place to see shows. Unfourtunatly they have a tendency not to promote their more "local" shows until the last minute, but I have seen so many great gigs there in the last years. I got to see Sylvain Sylvain and Glen Matlock the other night.
  1:29pm benwah:

the rev horton heat is playing there april 9
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:31pm coe:

@asanarama there has definatly been some stuff that would definatly appeal to Fun Machine fans there as of late. I think DK saw Attacker there a few months back.
Avatar 1:31pm Diane Kamikaze:

Chris's Youtube trailer/film is called Sweet Lorraine and his film co is Ghost Limb Films
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:31pm coe:

@benway already got my tickets :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:33pm coe:

Also if you are familier with the Meatlocker scene a lot of those guys play there on local nights. Dutchgutz etc.
  1:37pm Rhino Beach:

Fun Lenny Facts: Lenny once did a stage dive at a Cyndi Lauper concert in the early 80's causing chaos and destruction.
Avatar 1:39pm dcp:

KEITH MORRIS!! I like Reyes too. I DO like Henry as well.
  1:40pm Gavin Von McNett:

Play some Tull!
  1:41pm benwah:

@coe that is awesome, i haven't been to a meatlocker show in a while i really haven't been to any shows in new brunswick since zhenia golov broke up. i think this rev horton show will definitely be my first time going to the stanhope house. maybe see ya there!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:42pm coe:

Meryl Hurwich from PMS owns and operates a tattoo shop in Stroudsburg called Inkwitch Tattoo.
Avatar 1:42pm slugluv1313:

THANK YOU, Diane!!!!!! LOVING this Peer Pressure!!!!!

cool! i saw Cyndi in her Blue Angel days too, back when i was in college -- everyone was raving bout how she was tiny tiny tiny but with this HUGE voice -- think they opened for Squeeze or something like that? (oy vey, the *joys* of SENILITY!)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:44pm coe:

The 45 thing was from the Phil Spector movie on HBO and I damn near wet my pants at that scene.
  1:47pm Alwilk Records:

OMG swamped. Lenny, are you coming in today?
Avatar 1:52pm InBrkly:

I'm not sure I buy it. You have to be pretty damn sheltered. There was a youtube clip a year or so ago of some kid pondering vinyl. I just don't believe it. It still enjoys popularity.
Avatar 1:53pm InBrkly:

also, hilarious comment by Alwilk Records. Did Lenny pull a Diane Kamikaze and say he was out sick?
Avatar 1:55pm PKNY:

Wow, haven't heard "Room Service" in way too long!
Avatar 1:55pm Cecile:

  1:55pm Motördude:

Dude, Hawkwind was never the same without you. Do you think you'll ever play with "Fast" Eddie Clarke again?
Avatar 1:57pm MenfussMike:

fuck yes!!! Track 1 Dressed to Kill. Produced by Neil Bogart. Kiss in their absolute prime
Avatar 1:57pm Cheri Pi:

Oh the innuendo is LOLing me.
Avatar 1:57pm dcp:

crap! Missed Redd Kross. stupid bladder. Goin' to see them tomorrow night. By the way BT had to cancel his DJ gig in town tomorrow night for those interested.
Avatar 1:57pm Cecile:

Ace in full effect.
  1:57pm dan arky:

KISS has Black Sabbath scared.

There's some interview somewhere. I think Gene told Geezer, "We're gonna kick your a$$."
  1:58pm dan arky:

I meant to say "had"
  1:58pm Flynn Miami:

Lenny was the drummer for the heaviest heavy metal band to ever come out of New Jersey... The mighty PRIAPISM!!!!
Avatar 2:01pm Cecile:

that Devilhaus had a Alice in Chains vibe, and that's a good thing.
Avatar 2:03pm Cecile:

flag pole?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:03pm coe:

Yeah Cecile the Devilhaus stuff is pretty multi influnced to give you an idea the first time I saw them they closed their set with The Misfits Vampira
Avatar 2:03pm dcp:

JON SPENCER! ok, no more caps lock...
Avatar 2:03pm MenfussMike:

i was thinking the same thing Cecile. very AIC
  2:04pm Probably Not Gavin Again:

If Bedlam gets back together, will you kick Tommy out? I'm just tossing ideas around here.
Avatar 2:05pm Cecile:

That's it for Kiss, them.
Eddie was the last Kiss fan standing.
Avatar 2:06pm MenfussMike:

eddie trunk is a goof ball
Avatar 2:06pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

DCP: No more DC group hug for BT? Baah! Might still hit Marx for a pint of costly belgian and a bit of rockin' out. It's a great DJ event.
Avatar 2:06pm MenfussMike:

Ace and Peter SOLD THEIR RIGHTS of their makeup to gene and paul.
  2:07pm common:

man. my friend had kiss tickets in the front row when we were in 3rd grade and my mom didn't let me go. she thought they were satanic.
Avatar 2:08pm dcp:

Think I'll just be hitting Redd Kross gig. black cat BLACK CAT!
Avatar 2:08pm MenfussMike:

they are. I was a Kid In Satan's Service
Avatar 2:08pm InBrkly:

They weren't satanic enough.
Avatar 2:11pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Hell, I had no idea, re: Redd Kross. Haven't been in Black Cat since Faust played the Sonic Circuits fest a few years back...
Avatar 2:13pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

I'd prefer to be in the service of saitan. Soaked in malaysian curry. It's magickally delicious.™
Avatar 2:16pm dcp:

BLACK F-- oh sorry...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:17pm coe:

So to go along with DK's STranglers story. I just lied my way out of a meeting to stay and finish listening to the show.
  2:17pm Pasta Queen:

Devilhaus fun fact... Charlie Pip fought for the Union during the Civil War.
Avatar 2:19pm slugluv1313:

SIX PACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Avatar 2:19pm David Shortell:

Interesting rendition of "Thirsty and Miserable" Dez Cadena's band played at the Crossroads last month, throwing bits of "Third Stone From the Sun" and Beethoven's 9th Symphony in there.
Avatar 2:20pm Cheri Pi:

Hank 3, He's going to be the star of my Nuptials.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:21pm MD:

Granddad Hank must love his Grandson......
Avatar 2:21pm dcp:

talent and creativity skip a generation don't they?
  2:21pm bilky:

wow. manson on wfmu. wtf?
Avatar 2:21pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

I had heard that Hank III was relevant but had no idea. That was good fun.
Avatar 2:21pm Cecile:

I dunno. I think the Williams family talent keeps getting diluted the more time passes. Except for Hank IV of course! :D
  2:21pm bilky:

great song btw
  2:21pm Ralph Goldenmouth:

You still owe me 5 clams from the Livingston Alwilk!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:22pm MD:

Exactly! dcp!
  2:22pm Johnny Rainbow:

Lenny fun fact... Lenny has a warehouse size walk in closet that houses his massive collection of "Guinea Tee's".
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:22pm Rich in Washington:

I just saw Hank III on the Wild Wonderful Whites documentary
Avatar 2:22pm Cheri Pi:

Talented in saloons, & he'll make a beautiful Fondue fountain.
Avatar 2:22pm dcp:

Yeah Hank IV is good too....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:23pm coe:

I could probably throw togeather a carrier spanning double albums worth of Manson stuff that I can listen to
Avatar 2:23pm Cheri Pi:

look at this delicious tempeh recipe: www.theppk.com...
Avatar 2:24pm Cecile:

Hank III just seems too mannered to me.
His dad is a bozo, but he could write a chorus.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:24pm coe:

@Johnny Rainbow hey man you shouldn't call wife beaters guinea tee's that's offensive.
Avatar 2:24pm Cheri Pi:

Wait, I'm confusing the last 2 hanks. Make mine Hank 4.
Avatar 2:25pm Cecile:

Zoo music GIRL!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:25pm coe:

@Rich in Washington how freakin great is that movie?
Avatar 2:25pm Cheri Pi:

Cecile, you got this!
Avatar 2:25pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

GOD-DAMMIT, Pi, that tempeh dish all a-swoon...
Avatar 2:26pm Cecile:

my life is a box full of dirt!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:26pm coe:

Somebody call Ken.... can we get Lenny a show or at least have him fill in for Diane.
Avatar 2:26pm Sem Chumbo:

@Cecile: beat me to it. Love that image.
  2:26pm Neil B:

Great show Diane!!! Miss ya
  2:26pm Neil B:

Great show Diane!!! Miss ya
Avatar 2:27pm dcp:

well I don't Hank III approaches importance/musicianship of Hank I at all but he's WAY better than Hank II
Avatar 2:27pm Cheri Pi:

RTD- who do we have drying in the pantry, Hank 2 or 3?
Avatar 2:28pm slugluv1313:

ahhhhhhhh BIRTHDAY PARTY!!!!!!!
Avatar 2:28pm Cheri Pi:

Avatar 2:28pm dcp:

^ yep.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:29pm Rich in Washington:

Dunno if it's true but I heard somewhere that H3 has said some unbelievably boneheaded racist things. I do know he's got a large skinhead following, for what it's worth.
Avatar 2:29pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Avatar 2:29pm Cecile:

I think they are equally dodgy in different ways.
Dad can write a tune for the masses, but is a fool.
Kid has the smarts and the taste but makes annoying, mannered noise.

I'm sticking to grandpa. He was the whole package.
Avatar 2:29pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

a bit slow. Was in the next room screaming in caps-lock.
Avatar 2:30pm Cecile:

Antichrist Superstar
Avatar 2:30pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Pi: I have no idea about any of these nasty Hanks. Are they breeding 'em in a laboratory somewhere?
Avatar 2:31pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Couldn't pick any of 'em out of a police lineup.
Avatar 2:31pm Cecile:

Scratch Acid were terrifying that way.
Avatar 2:31pm dcp:

Hank III also thinks Jello Biafra should be the only musician allowed to talk politics so take that for what it's worth. Haven't heard of racist stuff.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:33pm coe:

@Rich in Washington actually Hank Jr. made some pretty ultra right wing statments on CNN a couple of years back that got him in a bit of trouble.
Avatar 2:33pm dcp:

I would think the racist stuff was coming out of II.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:34pm coe:

Cecile it's funny you mention Scratch Acid because that is what a lot of Birthday Party stuff reminds me of or I should Scratch Acid and Jesus Lizard remind of the Birthday Party.
Avatar 2:34pm slugluv1313:

oh wow -- you got to see BIRTHDAY PARTY at Peppermint Lounge!!!!! SO FREAKIN' AWESOME!!! *bowing down* -- so "jealous"! :)
Avatar 2:34pm Cheri Pi:

I can't even make a joke about the Hanks right now, I have NO material.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:36pm coe:

How about Hanks but no Hanks Cheri?
Avatar 2:36pm Cecile:

coe, yeah. they kind of looked really frightened. Like they were seeing ghosts no one else could see.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:36pm tim from champaign:

I think Diane should Peer Pressure herself and talk about the Birthday Party show.
Avatar 2:38pm Cheri Pi:

Yes COE yes!!! From now on I'm outsourcing my Hank references to you.
Avatar 2:39pm Cheri Pi:

COme ON!!
Avatar 2:40pm David Shortell:

I just heard Robin Zander's April 6th Count Basie Theater show got switched to the Brighton Bar.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:41pm Coe:

I think David Yow acknowledged Bday part was their main influence.
Avatar 2:45pm Chris from DC:

Yes! Counting down to Deathfest....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:45pm coe:

@inbrkly I wouldn't be surprised at all. Even Yow's song on the first Pigface album sounds like it could be a Bday Party song.
Avatar 2:45pm Cecile:

Yep, brkly.
Avatar 2:45pm Cheri Pi:

Chris, I'm pondering going for just Sunday. Still pondering....
Avatar 2:46pm Cecile:

Yow is also a huge fan of Flying Nun stuff, but joked he kind of had to keep it secret in the 80s.
Avatar 2:47pm Cheri Pi:

Oh, that touches my heart to know C-$
Avatar 2:48pm dcp:

saw Scratch Acid (reunion), great show. Would love to have seen Birffday Party.
Avatar 2:49pm Chris from DC:
