Watching hummingbirds at the feeder while the wind outside silently blows around the lavender plants. Soundtrack perfect. Thank you, Bethany.

- Ms. Ryker : Over @ the Bryce Program 3/29 he was comemmorating Lawrence D. "Butch" Morris - & they refered me to your
Stochastic Hit Parade / A440 Page! Haven't found a really fascinating online music stream of Classical / Academic stuff (well - there's wshu Baroue & Radio Caprice Classical Organ...)
- so glad to know about your Archives - !

Been listening for last half hour, fantastic set! By the way, I am from the foreign country of Columbus, Ohio! And I saw Sun Ra at a club here in early 80's, or maybe late 70's.

I'm so unsophistocated, I relate to your songs by saying to myself, "Hey, that sounds like Roy Wood's cello riff!"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:27pm
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...I have it on good authority Roy Wood *does* use the same 12 notes....

Matt from Springfield:

@tomB: At least you have a sophisticated taste in pop music! ;)

Don't worry, Tom, sometimes she plays that Janacek piece that reminds me of listening to ELP as a youngster.

However, I can also alert you and your listeners to an Olof Arnalds appearance at J&R, April 19, high noon.

It's a live performance and signing of "For Now I Am Winter"on CD. But the following day, something of his will be released on vinyl for RSD.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:37pm
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...I love the Ginastera on ELP's 'Brain Salad Sugery'! Sue me if you like. I like that whole album, in fact. Some other ELP is like 'Look! We know what Classical Music is!' ...& we know we can get it better somewhere else...
  Swag For Life Member 6:39pm
12539:

("For Now I Am Winter" is Ólafur Arnalds, not Ólöf. Two different people.)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:47pm
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...seems to me ProgRock a quite legit Gateway into 'Serious Music' - be it Roy Wood or other
- & I find it really interesting how Soundtrack has become a mighty Genre unto itself. Anybody says they 'don't like Classical Music' - I challenge them to think of the film music they've been moved by w/out consciuosly realizing it. 'Forbidden Planet' has a way kewl soundtrack! SciFi surely a gateway into Avant - just as visually it took Surrealist images completely out of context, but in a way that speaks to folk as Naive Metaphor...

...time's up already? Looking forward to the next 3-hour fill-in!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:51pm
G:

I remember as a first-year undergrad sitting around without another guy who was taking Composition and writing four-part harmony exercises for class every morning. We were like, "OK, so basically ELP is some of the more dramatic 20th-century classical stuff played at maximum speed with just way too much ostinato :-) Obviously, it's all about the energy, guys."
  6:52pm
Benno:

Listening live is better. So much better. Regular show, please. The kind you can plan to listen to.

Avatar 6:58pm
Droll:

G, ELP also came with a rock-n-roll stage show: stabbing the instrument with knives, playing from behind or underneath the organ, and even (pretending to) play piano upside-down.

Personally, I'm a sucker for orchestration with an actual orchestra.

Benno:

What's the best place to keep track of when you will be back? Your 'FMU page?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:00pm
G:

True, Droll. :-) We were just thinking about the composition and arrangement from the angle of Forte's Tonal Theory in Concept and Practice, and music history/appreciation courses...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:02pm
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Everything is Context! :
...Many 'Classical' Composers were syphilitics who jammed @ parties & starved for patronage
- now to hear them - it's a venue for geriatrics who dress up & fall asleep...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:04pm
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...& now that Rock is 'Classic' - the same true for it! : P ...
