hey mo. hudson valley's got it's ears on. sorry for long time no check in - been cocooning in the room with the woodstove the winter long. spring has sprung me.

Starwick:

Just listen to those real drums -- you can hear the snares snapping and the sticks a-tapping on the drumhead. *sigh*
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:14pm
G:

It's the non-PG version of the Shop Rite "can can" sale TV ad
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:15pm
Parq:

Hi, all. I'm off kitchen duty this week; Mrs. Parq is taking a crack at risotto. Of course, watching that gif, I'm thinking chicken drumsticks.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:16pm
G:

@Starwick: Those Al Green tracks always had the drummer mixed like that. That was the first time I noticed drumming as a distinct element on records in my early teens.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:16pm
Parq:

That Al Green version of "Good Times" was a little piece of brilliant, b/t/w.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:19pm
Matt F:

Evenin Mo. As usual, you must be reading my mail- Al Green was my latest youtube rabbit hole obsession. Check him looking disheveled with his arm in a sling doing "Jesus Is Waiting" on Soul Train. One of the most riveting performances I have ever seen. Pleased as always to be home to hear your show while I labor through the crossword puzzle!
  7:21pm
sweet cheri:

hey monica,,it's great to be back, i was away for two weeks. btw what do you think of the loss of annette? very sad is'nt it?
Avatar 7:21pm
Starwick:

G: One of my indulgences is listening to this show each week with the noise-cancelling headphones. You hear so much more. And the older tracks aren't all cranked to red so you can really appreciate the mix.
Avatar 7:22pm
Monica:

howdy, dale, parq (yes!), matt fiveash (i adore crossword puzzles!)....
  7:22pm

i saw the rev. al green at the beacon bak in the 80's. it was a real testifying' kind of performance, with huge bodyguards holding him up when he was in his fevered state. delightful!

Hi Monica! I like your can-can-do attitude.

Saw "Blancanieves" today, the bullfight-themed silent version of Snow White, shot in Madrid and Barcelona. Very emotionally evocative (it's a fair tale, after all), and unless you can't stand that sort of thing, I'd recommend it highly.

  8:13pm
sweet cheri:

as far as i'm concerned i think it's not a good idea to go into business with a friend, cause you might wind up fighting with each other..
  8:14pm

many read into this song and get the wrong impression but it was really an ode to short people

it's hard enough picking the wrong ice-cream flavor with a friend to share
whole goddamn investment of 2 scoops can dissolve some serious amity amongst buddies

Depends on what is meant by doing business. The big friendship breaker is lending/borrowing money. But trading skills doesn't put almighty dollah in the way.

listener james from westwood:

as to bidness with friends: always good to get things in writing. especially if the other friend doesn't work for him or herself and doesn't understand how things just can't be dropped into your schedule at the last moment.
  8:26pm
sweet cheri:

monica i want to know were you shocked to hear of annette's passing last week? i was..

work with friends? I think broad conditionals include the env't and what's at stake. Lax and low are the easiest. Beyond that, I think it hinges how well you communicate and naturally get along when times are tough/great.
Avatar 8:30pm
Monica:

david_ - it does?
Avatar 8:31pm
fleep:

Also for cash, no friendship discounts, pay what a stranger would.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:31pm
G:

Depends on the friend, whose personality you *should* know. Can you trust that person to be reasonable, reliable, timely, trustworthy, keep commitments, compromise, be fair, etc.?

If you can't really say a strong yes to all these things, think twice. Think more than twice.
