Hate to rub it in, but it's sunny and 80 degree here. Hawaiian shirt weather.
Avatar 4:16pm
Kurt Gottschalk:

it's dark and like 80 degrees here. the station air conditioning is broken and this building heats up fast!
Avatar 4:22pm

Yikes, open all the windows!
Dean Rowan:

Great to hear from Jon Rose. A buddy of mine, Steve Elkins, recently produced a documentary of sorts of which Rose is an important component: http://www.reachofresonance.com/#!collection

I like big balls.

yeah, hardly any dribbling - you get to dribble 3 times and you must pass. No dunking, either.

no wonder American basketball became big down there...

now what did I do with my wah pedal?
Avatar 5:00pm

Second Hendrix hit on WFMU today - Scott McD played "3rd Stone from the Sun" this AM.

Must be something in the air.

It worked in each case, though.

Something in the Air was Thunderclap Newman.
Avatar 5:04pm

Prodcued by Pete Townshend, btw.

Hey Mike, I still have my original Crybaby on a shelf somewhere, along with my Bluesbreaker pedal. I've been using my Boss ME-50 floor unit for just about everything. Big, loud and only semi-grounded. Inferior technology rules!
Avatar 5:05pm

I was napping during the Jon Rose interview. That made for some curious dream imagery. Especially when I created a website that interpreted aleatoric scores.
Avatar 5:06pm

Is this Prince or Poco??
Avatar 5:06pm

What was the website Jon mentioned? I bookmarked it my dream, but I can't seem to go back and retrieve it.
Avatar 5:09pm
Kurt Gottschalk:

his site is jonroseweb.com

the book is at the url dean posted above, i believe

@Carmichael - those pedal boards confuse me...too many options. They do sound nice if you can figure them out, though.
Original crybaby, like original original?? How old is it?
Avatar 5:16pm

Holy hoserinos, Jon Rose's site is a treasure trove!
Avatar 5:20pm
Kurt Gottschalk:

yeah, definitely worth checking out. he has loads of audio / video up there!
Avatar 5:21pm

Seems like everyone is enjoying the nice weather outside.

The Rzewski is beautifully played by Drury...heard FR play it once. So great.
Love the show today...and always tune in.
Avatar 5:26pm

@Mike: I bought it in the mid 70s new, so it's pretty old and abused. The Bluesbreaker pedal is a late 60s model I bought from a private party about the same time as the Crybaby. I have a fuzzbox too (phase shifter), although I can't remember who makes it. After hearing Lou Reed's Rock'n'Roll, I was sold.
Avatar 5:28pm

Ten Freedom Summers, one of the best albums from last year.
Avatar 5:28pm

I think Doug linked it on his Mining the Motherlode blog.

cool, Carmichael. My favorite oldass pedal to use is the Boss CE1 - stereo chorus ensemble. I'm usually playing through multiple amps so the stereo effect is pretty mindblowing...especially coupled with the vibrato/tremelo channels on the amps I use.
Avatar 5:31pm

The picture on the Jon Rose site depicting the Great Fences of Australia project is stunning in its simplicity. I could swear Storm Thorgeson did it.
Avatar 5:32pm

I'll check it out, Mike. Stereo chorus was a great guitar effect back in the day.
Avatar 5:42pm

@Carmichael: I was noticing its eloquence as well.
