Was Tim Conway and Don Knotts in that version of King Kong or am I thinking The Apple Dumplin Gang?
Avatar 🧩 3:42pm
Matt from Springfield:

The Apple Dumplin Gang for sure, don't *think* Don Knotts would've been in the King Kong remake, but I could be wrong.
Avatar 🧩 3:45pm
Matt from Springfield:

@tim: Nope. But hey, Rene Auberjonois! And Jack O'Halloran! And "Joe Piscopo as Bit Part"!! (Wish the trailer announcer guy would single him out and announce those very words!!)

the natives in the peter jackson version scared the crap out of me.

I'm glad you like the beds. I don't know if I can count on using fresh ones every week but I'll try and build a nice library of them.

tim from champaign:

Joe Piscopo?!? I thought Piscopo royally sucked until I remembered how unfunny Billy Crystal is.
Avatar 🧩 3:51pm
Matt from Springfield:

@tim: Come now, the *sum* talent of Billy Crystal is greater than the sum talent of Joe; Billy will always have a nice role in Spinal Tap, for example.
Avatar 3:53pm
Carmichael:

What did he do in Spinal Tap?

@Dave B: Love him! Truly a crowning jewel of Paul Shaffer's long, distinguished career. (Second only perhaps, to writing "It's Raining Men"). Do I hafta smash an egg on my head to get you to a radio station?! Hey, Ken's never smashed eggs on his head for pledges yet, has he?

I had to look up who the actor was playing the hyper-manic mohel on Seinfeld (Charles Levin)--I then found out I'd seen him in other small roles (the man/Woody stand-in in the play Woody directs at the end of Annie Hall), and the Disc 'n Dat record store manager in Spinal Tap!
With Artie Fufkin, two middle aged Jewish guys arguing over who screwed up more--bleak and funny grade-A Christopher Guest material.
Avatar 4:26pm
Carmichael:

Now if that astronaut could only sing Steve Miller's Space Cowboy, he'd be a hit with the ladies.
Avatar 🧩 4:26pm
Matt from Springfield:

Bowie's in .... Space.... best parody/tribute to Bowie's oeuvre! One of the very best of Flight of the Conchords, aamof.

@Mike: It has a nice lullaby feel to it, esp. a capella. In fact you could even sing Peter Schilling's "Major Tom (Coming Home)", and that would probably work as well.
Avatar 🧩 4:28pm
Matt from Springfield:

@Carm: On the condition that, NASA can engineer a way to play that "Maurice" twang on electric guitar in a space environment.
Avatar 4:35pm

@Matt from Springfield - Schaffer also did a pretty dead on Don Kirshner impersonation
