I am the first to arrive! I get the good chair!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:45pm Parq:

Was over listening to Martha's latest show. Not for the faint of heart.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:45pm Doug Schulkind:

Parq yourself down and have a swivel!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:46pm Doug Schulkind:

We are all the same throbbing heart. Martha's got the left ventricle today.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:56pm Parq:

This isn't still "My Beatles", is it?
  5:56pm dvx:

Hello and greetings from Eastern Germany!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:57pm Doug Schulkind:

No Sir. You are enjoying Jimmy Takeuchi & His Exciters "Soul Francisco"
Avatar 5:57pm ndbob:

evening Doug and everyone!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:57pm Doug Schulkind:

Greetings and hello to you, dvx!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:58pm Parq:

Killer track, man. DVX! Wie gehst?
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 5:58pm Artie:

Having only a wisp left of his savings, the Ghost extracted his remaining capital in coinage - which promptly fell right through his fingertips.
  5:59pm dvx:

Nicht schlecht - it turned into a beautiful spring day here after all. How about you?

And yes, excellent track.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:00pm Parq:

Googling Jimmy Takeuchi now. He likes to put the ladies on hims album covers, doesn't he?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:00pm Parq:

<clears throat> "His".
Avatar 6:03pm ndbob:

Ghost Capital is a great blog - so glad it's back
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:04pm Doug Schulkind:

You should see what the ladies do with hims, Parq.
Avatar 6:04pm hyde:

this Mexico LP is the first one I grabbed last night!
  6:06pm dvx:

Ghostcapital looks very interesting - another place to lose yourself in.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:07pm Doug Schulkind:

Howdy hyde!
  6:08pm dusty:

aw, that IS a great album, found a cassette at goodwill last week. That opening to "El Cascabel" is insane! SO glad ghostcapital is back.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:11pm Doug Schulkind:

Welcome dusty!
Avatar 6:13pm northguineahills:

I like this Elisabeth Waldo, it's like over the top Martin Denny.
Avatar 6:14pm ndbob:

yep the entire Elizabeth Waldo record is great
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:15pm Doug Schulkind:

Waldo and Tak Shindo are sublime. Exotica is such a pejorative term for such wonderful stuff.

Oh and hello to you, ndbob!
Avatar 6:16pm Holly in NC:

Hi Doug & other friends! Can't listen live, but much love to you and Nick xoxo

Nick, if you're here, site looks GREAT.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:17pm Doug Schulkind:

Holly in NC! Holly in NC!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:18pm Doug Schulkind:

Oh my how swoonful is this Khánh Ly number!?!
Avatar 6:19pm hyde:

the Khanh Ly video on the old GC site is really worth a watch, if swooning is your thing
  6:24pm davex:

I think like this Chicken Dance better.
Avatar 6:25pm Holly in NC:

Doug! before I go, I just recently figured out that Duke Payne, the man responsible for super funky *bagpipe* instrumental "The Bottom" (you know my bagpipe obsession) was also the primary sax player in Odell's Organizers. I'm sure you already knew that, but made my day :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:25pm Doug Schulkind:

Glad you remembered that, hyde! Here is the link to the previous incarnation of Ghostcapital: ghostcapital.blogspot.com/
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:26pm Doug Schulkind:

@Holly in NC
I'm always the last to know. Speaking of bagpipes, do you have Rufus Harley's "Bagpipe Blues"? If not, email me and you will...
Avatar 6:28pm ndbob:

@Doug just found out Rufus is on Twitter
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:29pm Doug Schulkind:

Rufus did a great live set on WFMU years ago. On the Stork Club.
Avatar 6:29pm Holly in NC:

@ndbob - Rufus follows me on Twitter ;-)

(Doug, I do have, thank you)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:31pm Uncle Michael:

I love Foghat!
Avatar 6:31pm ndbob:

@Holly wow - maybe I found out Rufus is on Twitter through your tweet:) - was trying to remember
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:32pm Parq:

Uncle M, I thought the same thing -- somebody call Clay Pigeon.

GIVE THE DRUMMER RADIO PROGRAMMING ALERT...

@Uncle Michael!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:34pm Doug Schulkind:

Phil Yost is playing all the instruments here. Because of course he is.
  6:36pm dvx:

Steeleye Static
Avatar 6:36pm Holly in NC:

@UncleMichael - my high school nurse was *supposedely* the mother of someone in Foghat, a story I suspect was beyond apocryphal. Nonetheless she was a super nurse. Would consistently excuse me from gym, give me a hot water bottle, & go down to the caf to brew me tea whenever I had cramps. Evem when I was clearly lying.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:37pm Uncle Michael:

Was you HS Nurse from the UK?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:38pm Doug Schulkind:

Love that one, dvx. I selected this track for that very sound, the metalic/electronic re-creation of an old Brit folksong sound.
  6:40pm dvx:

Yes, great mix! Now it's pre-Blondy Cocody.
Avatar 6:40pm Holly in NC:

@UM - Nope. Unless she had toally lost accent over years.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:43pm Uncle Michael:

Ah, well...Foghat is Brits.
Avatar 6:49pm ndbob:

I remember playing this CD at the video store where I was working - one of the few I was asked to turn off
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:49pm Uncle Michael:

As I scrolled through Ghost Capital, Biet Het was one of the titles that caught my eye.
Avatar 6:50pm hyde:

man, with all this stuff and the things I'm grabbing from Bodega Pop (now that I'm paranoid about missing anything) and Visit Me in Music City, I am *drowning* in music. It's ok. Don't save me. Just let me drown.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:50pm Doug Schulkind:

@ndbob
Did one of your co-workers bail you out after you slapped the boss in the face?
Avatar 6:50pm Holly in NC:

But she did brew tea... NO ONE else in my town brewed tea - we had Dunkin' Donuts coffee for weekend treats, and Maxwell House, Sanka, Postum at home.

Some things in American life have gotten better after all.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:51pm Doug Schulkind:

@hyde
I hope to relay some interesting news regarding Bodega Pop in a little while.
Avatar 6:52pm ndbob:

@Doug Ha!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:52pm Doug Schulkind:

The next and final two songs are for our fellow travelers in Oklahoma.
Avatar 6:54pm hyde:

@Doug. well, now. that's an exciting teaser...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:55pm Doug Schulkind:

@hyde
I hope it will prove to be.
Avatar 6:56pm northguineahills:

Good fun, Doug. Glad I could make it today!
Avatar 6:57pm ndbob:

excellent show Doug!
  6:57pm dvx:

Great show, Doug. Thanks!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:57pm Uncle Michael:

Great stuff, Doug...and thanks for the blog pointer.
Avatar 6:58pm hyde:

nice good song to ride off into the sunset on. thanks!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:58pm Doug Schulkind:

I'm glad, too, northguineahills! Thanks ndbob, dvx and everyone! Stay tuned for Jesse and Kaminsky Kamoutsky. And tune in tomorrow at noon (ET) for Nazario Scenario with Amanda. I'll be back on Friday morning at 9 (ET) with the 3-hour GTDS.
Avatar 7:51pm Van in DC:

*sniff* *sniff*

Smells like back stabbing hypocrite sheeple alley in here.

Oh. That's just Doug.

I'll pass.

OUT.

You don't have to lock the door either drummerette. Just saying bye as you lacked the balls to.
