Wow, I just got nostalgic for the first time I brought Pulp Fusion comp home.

12539:

Joe, I'm so glad your show is moving to a time when I won't fall asleep after Single File.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:12am
Joe McG:

Thanks, 12539. It'll be nice to do a show where I don't fall asleep after Single File myself! I'm not exactly a night owl by nature.
Avatar 12:13am
Holly in NC:

Greetings & lamentations!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Unlike lucky 12539, I will likely never hear Joe live again :-(
Happy for you Joe, miserable for myself.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:14am
Joe McG:

Oh, no, Holly, I'm going to miss you terribly.
👻 Swag For Life Member 12:15am
12539:

Holly, no schedule is permanent, so you never know. But for your sake I hope you can schedule archive listening around the times your housemate isn't hogging the bandwidth.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:17am
Joe McG:

12539 makes a very valid point. Who knows where we'll end up? I might not be peppy enough for the mornings. Time will tell.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:18am
davex:

Love the set, Joe. Good to hear you'll be in a slot better suited to you!
Avatar 12:19am
Holly in NC:

Oh, fortunately I can (& will) download Joe's shows to phone so housemate not an impediment to enjoying Joe's fine musical selections - but still, it's not the same without the interaction. Will miss ALL friends :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:20am
Joe McG:

Hey, davex! We'll see! I'm used to the laid-back Saturday nights, so we'll see how I adapt to the different vibe of a workday morning.
Avatar 12:21am

Yeah Joe, you'll be the Morning Guy! Traffic and weather, zany phone calls, funny voices ...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:22am
Andrew Waterloo:

Yah, if you do it right you'll get a subservient female co-host
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:23am
Joe McG:

Yeah, I'm totally going to go for the Morning Zoo thing.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:24am

Actually, doing the traffic and weather sounds like a great idea. "And on the BQE, we have a 15 minute delay into the tunnel..."

I was hoping someone would feature Ziggy on Dave M's drummer special, but alas, he was not. Featured.

They plan two more drummer specials so don't alas just yet.

@Holly: Well, those guys like drummers in their favorite genres, which makes sense. Give me a funky drummer any day.

Avatar 12:45am
Ike:

This has always seemed like a 9 a.m. to 12 noon program to me, so this scheduling makes 200% of all of the sense. I have trouble processing this show in this slot. Bryce used to be in this slot a long time ago. It's a very Bryce timing of nighting.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:46am

..love the funk,,,brooklyn memories early 70's,, before disco mostly killed it ,,, beegees had to make it "white" just like Elvis ,,, 20 years before that,,,

Hello Joe and all the listeners.

Yes yes, agreed, Joe re: Bryce on Fri. afternoons. That was just an example. Or something.

Mutter mutter grinch grinch. Trying find personal bright side...there is *one* .. I'll be able to listen to Live from the Admiral, er, live.

Thomas's 6 am show is most misplaced on schedule, I think. For folks in Jersey time zone ;-)

Good evening, Joe - among the last times I can say good evening to you in this time zone!

SO gonna miss your laid-back Saturday night freeform-FM show (disagree with Ike! ;) but best of luck during the daytime--pretend that you're Ken, or Trouble, and pick up that kind of vibe!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:13am
davex:

...counts as morning for me, that is. That sounded funny before. But it still sounds great...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:14am
Matt from Springfield:

Hi Julie! Glockenspiel? Maybe. Sounds like a whole variety of percussion, with bells, drums, "pots", synth percussion too.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:14am

Hey, Matt! I hope you'll be able to check in on the daytime at least once in awhile!

This is an amazing cover!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:18am

@Matt: Hope so! Do try!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:18am

Hi Holly! At least with my job I have a computer to look at during working hours, as long as I'm at my desk. I'll miss you on the board as well, but Kenzo can probably take this Archive and mail it to wherever you're at! ;)
Avatar 1:19am

@davex - agreed

Hi davex! Agree, I love this cover too, I don't have that premium of Scott's, but I've heard someone play it on FMU before--lovely.

Joe McG:

It DOES, Julie! Hoyt Axton, that thief.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:24am
Matt from Springfield:

@davex: It's a really tough case, at my previous workplace I could stay ahead of the network admin people, but here they're smart and locked out outside streams pretty good. My Pop-Up Player opens, but it doesn't play the sound. Whereas the Archive Pop-Ups, which have PHP code in their address, DO open and DO play the sound. Well maybe it's appropriate--since I work on tough cases, a tough case has been presented to me! ;)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:25am
Joe McG:

@JUlie: And this song sounds a lot like "Me About You" by the Turtles!
Avatar 1:26am
Julie:

I think I only know the one Turtles song
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:26am
davex:

Matt: I guess it is tough if you have the admin people trying to foil your efforts. And I suppose smart phones, etc. aren't a solution then?

Holly: Are you in a similar situation?
👻 Swag For Life Member 1:30am
12539:

Matt, would they let you bring in an internet radio, or would they block that too?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:30am
Matt from Springfield:

Dig the name, "Hydro Electric Streetcar"!

@davex: Unfortunately not where I work (also...I would have to own a smartphone first! My phone is pretty dumb! :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:32am
Matt from Springfield:

@12539: They would probably let me take in that kind of device--but not plug it into their network connections! Also they use "thin client" computer boxes, without such workarounds as QuickTime installed on them.

Avatar 1:34am

@davex - no, my problems are quite different. 9am-noon of day I'm usually working with kids sans media access (very purposeful) - and if not, I'm probably asleep ;-)
My preferrred sleep time = 5am - noon. I'm a self-employed freak!

@Julie: I have at least four pair. @Holly: Get up at 11:30 on Thursdays and say hello!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:37am

@Julie: But he doesn't even have a closet for them! Joe keeps all his Shoes at the foot of his bed, just like all his records! ;)
Power poppish!
Avatar 1:38am

That must be one huge bed.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:38am

Wow, 80s recording of Sandie Shaw. Interesting choice of song too, a Bacharach-David one Dionne originally sang, as Sandie originally sang "Always Something There To Remind Me". Why the British Electric Foundation???
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:58am

@Matt: Some kind of collective involving Martin Ware from the Human League! Mighty unfortunate saxophone solo on that record.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:00am

Martin Ware, huh!
