Rice is Nice peaked at 46 on the US charts. It was a follow up to Green Tambourine, which peaked at number 1. No wonder they got the guys to give an In Sound interview :)

@CeeDubbles - red beans & rice -yum! Not a Smithfield fan - that company still has *plenty* of other issues sans Paula. But I'm super lucky - I have tons of other delicious & reasonably priced pork options where I live, others probably not so fortunate. NC kinda best/worst re pigs.

Neat! The Hussy gives a rockin' set (Sunday night). Better than that, they stayed with a friend and we had homemade BLTs and cookies before they hit the road. I felt like their cool uncle, which means they are very kind to old people.

The Mantles, much like the Allah-Las, sound like an updated version of the Byrds to me. Not that there's anything wrong with that, they are both really good.

As a freshman at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 1978 I can remember an older student at the checkout counter in the photo department asking me "have you heard the De-evolution Band? They're from Akron, Ohio."

simon reynold's rip it up and start again has a funny part where he shows that one major music magazine from britain offered to its listeners the opportunity to visit akron, ohio, home of devo and pere ubu. sure it was a fascinating ride.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:42pm

I'm no fan of A-Rod, it should go without saying, but I thought Cashman's comment was way out of line.

Cashman didn't want to be snookered into having to play A-Rod. It's a business (who knew) and the Yankees might save on useless personnel cost by getting the performance insurance if he doesn't play at all. Not that that makes either of them look good.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:56pm
