Street interviews, listener call-ins, vinyl gluttery, sporadic normalcy, original floperas and fiktion, blatant talking over songs, politix, tenderness, and a vague undercurrent of angst. Right up your alley!

I hope you enjoyed this episode of The Dusty Show. Your continued support and interest go a long way towards inspiring me to continue. I've been doing this program in one form or another since 1998 (including years when it was called Mondo Eclectica on WMNF in Tampa). As always, it's a challenge to produce new content each week. Sometimes I do better than others.

I was happy with the Supreme Court decision concerning DOMA and Obamacare, and unhappy with Citizen's United and the Voter Suppression-oriented act recently handed down. I am wary of the Roberts court and repelled by Scalia. Who knows what's to come. Hopefully brighter and better days. Keep listening when you can ... take care and ... always remember.

It's probably a ruse between the NSA and SCOTUS. Depending if you speak out for or against DOMA or other proceedings, they gather your phone call & social media responses and eventually scramble the jets on you.

Ms Kitty: Yes. And health insurance coverage for both if only one has a job w/insurance. Those are the main practical reasons to get hitched (well, I guess if you want kids and feel that legally helps too. But kids, ugh! No way! ;)
Avatar 6:46pm
Matt from Springfield:

@MK: There are quite a few federal incentives, and state and other incentives for married couples--this Court decision should open up several of those benefits to gay married couples, no matter which state they live in.
Avatar 6:47pm
Carmichael:

If you want to call them *incentives*, yes. Filing taxes is different, not necessarily better. Kids are a great tax write-off until they turn about 16 or so.
Avatar 6:49pm
Matt from Springfield:

@Carm: THAT'S why you take in 28 foster kids, you don't have to give them a good upbringing, but you can keep getting tax credits after your own kids grow up!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:50pm
dale:

i know quite a few people with kids who won't marry because the wife can obtain social services without the man's income claimed. people will always work a system
Avatar 6:51pm
Carmichael:

Oh, and the benfits vary by the tax *bracket* you're in (how much you make together). The Carmichaels are currently in a high bracket due to double income and the associated lack of write-offs at that level. It's wise to have a very good CPA to navigate the US tax code.
