This is beautiful, too bad I can't clicky-star it. Kurt, looks like your comment is missing a link to the track listing

That's more like it. I will now apply the clicky-star maneuver.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:13pm
fred:

Done! You beat me to it, Cheri, but that's no wonder as you coined clicky-star in the first place
Avatar 3:13pm
Kurt Gottschalk:

that's as much info as i can find without learning japanese.

hello, everyone! thanks for listening!
Avatar 3:14pm

I learned Clicky Stars from watching the Clicky-Stardust Cowboy, the good Reverend TD himself.

@Kurt: next time you'll have to come in early and ask Keili

good point, fred! she might still be in the house.

@Cheri: I stand both corrected and in awe of that luminary. Where is he by the way, it's not quite beersie time yet
Avatar 3:18pm
Cheri Pi:

I'll try and translate it, for everyone who wants to take a stab at the 3rd track it's "浜下り アキカラ節~流れ舟"
  3:19pm

"Ambush," right up there with "Stairway to Heaven" when it comes to classic tunes!

Avatar 3:25pm
Jorges Horrors:

- @ thrift store I work @ here
- a 'I'm not Johnny Ramone' T-Shirt came in
- so nice to see gif of early DeeDee here (... :p ...)

- you see a pipa or a Chinese violin (correct term? - looks like a dowel w/ one string no frets & a leetle resonator...)
- & you think - 'right - what can *that* do?!'
...then a Master gets down & leaves you totally slack-jawed...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:27pm
fred:

@RevRab: I think you're thinking of the erhu there
Avatar 3:28pm
Cheri Pi:

Beersies??!!@@##$$ he must be in a meeting.
Avatar 3:28pm
Jorges Horrors:

...when I saw a Pipa performance he did a many-centuries old song about a battle
- it was ijmpressionistic - like Hendrix doing 'StarSpangledBanner' - !!
...now hearing 'ambush' I'm wondering if Pipa pieces are generally 'narrative' - ??
- Ta fred!
Avatar 3:31pm
Jorges Horrors:

Happy 70 Jagger.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:32pm
fred:

In my experience a lot of "classical" pipa pieces are narrative, but that may come from being classical. I saw Wu Man enough to know it can be something else too. BTW the erhu has two strings, there's a gifted player on my way from work to my fave venue, so I should know

Avatar 3:35pm
Jorges Horrors:

...to put the fine point on it:
- I was struck that here was this composition from the other side of the globe - centuries old
- & it was rather like Jimi simulating battle sounds on his guitar-family instrument - !!

Dean:

Pipa music covers the field: http://www.nonesuch.com/albums/music-of-the-pipa

Hugo Masters were the project of a Chinese recording engineer, "Hugo," who lead an eponymous label devoted to salvaging a dying genre of classical music.

ah, but the question persists...what type of beersy shall I get tonight? fancy or unfancy?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:15pm

@Mike East: the only answer is: both. That leaves the order unsettled though
Avatar 4:18pm

PLease order lots of the kind you can most easily QUAFF!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:21pm

I had a seasonal Blue Moon last week that was sweetened with agave nectar. It was pretty tasty.
Both is a good idea, fred...I'll have to check my finances.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:25pm
fred:

Weirdly enough, the only kind of beersie I can down in quantity is Guinness. For a change of pace I'd recommend the red Kasteel, but be forwarned: this is a highly treacherous beverage. We called it "casse-tête rouge" for a reason

I saw that agave nectar ale in the store. I'll give her a test drive this weekend.
