My wife had the astute observation that still active 90s punkers have graduated from Stooges to solo Iggy. For instance, Mudhoney's "I like It Small" has quite a bit of Iggy's "5'1"" vibe.

So that's like those interview records where the answers are set and the questions are left to the host?

Ain't that the truth. I used to lie through my teeth about what kind of music I actually listened to because I thought I would get the shit beat out of me. I recently saw a facebook post by the old DJ of our punk rock radio show back in the day and he said he was listening to the Bronski Beat while writing his blog. I got a good chuckle out of that.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:00pm
Rich in Washington:

I was almost completely done with punk by 1984 but these 90s punk resurgence bands just totally kicked ass (Gaunt, New Bomb Turks, Oblivians, Dwarves, Cheater Slicks, God Bullies, Pain Teens, and more).

Avatar 2:06pm

Avatar 2:08pm
braveness23:

Funny, I was never really into punk at all despite being in a gigging punk band in 83-86. Punk was an easy way for a bunch of suburban high school kids to break into the local urban music scene. In deep, deep secrecy we wanted to be Rush but that required chops and equipment and there just wern't clubs where a bunch of 16 year olds could get booked and people show up. The Jockey Club in Newport KY was relatively easy to get booked as an opener so punk it was. We had so many gigs booked opening for huge bands but the tours always fell through. TSOL, DRI, The Dicks... We had no idea when we were doing it what a big deal that was.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:09pm

Mick Collins is as close to a god-figure as I have. Which is to say: not in the same zip-code. I kinda like what he said, but I don't really care

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA missed the interview to see Shuggie Otis! Archives this weekend I go!

Most of Shuggie's set was a tee bit formulaic, but his musicians (two were his bros), were sublime. And when Shuggie let go on his awesome blues guitar, it was like Jimi meets Thurston, and that made the show beyond comprehension.
