- yes the Guinness is fairly low alch% - the Scotch Ale quite high for beer
- & taste combo. a concern; the Guinness can help make sweet stuff more palatable.
- Now - from what I read - the more fermented something is, the sweeter it gets - which is the point of bitter hops in the 1st place? But yerknow suggest anything inna pub & hear contrary opinion - others say stronger beers are sweeter to counteract the bitterness of sugars converted in fermentation...

...like every great Southern Preacher - King's delivery is very Musical. Heard a special on Coltrane, & suggested his 'Alabama' corresponded directly to King's speech about the infamous Alabama church bombing that killed little girls.

- John Lewis was the only original speaker left alive to speak again @ this one this year (50th)
- & I'm told he said *he bled* on those bridges in Protest from the beatings - & he is not going to accept their Right to Vote being revoked...

I think they didn't reserve their attacks exclusively for the "bad guys"
I got really interested in this stuff after watching "Hunger" - great flick.

- so presumably that's the connection ?
- I've heard the term used to describe someone posing as Irish but really English - like 'Oreo' is used for someone 'black outside & white inside'
- & Rhino =s 'Republican in Name Only' to perhaps complete the set...

i saw both The Wind that Shakes the Barley and Hunger. Made me want to reap my Irish roots. What would you call an American posing as Irish? Black and blue?

...Maybe I'm reading too much into it w/ the 'B&T' being like 'Oreo' thing - somebody Irish would be the authority here...

Speaking of inappropriate names, there's a chain of second-hand stores here called UFF. Irish friends of mine often want to take one of their bags home when they visit (but also warn us never to carry stuff around in those bags if we ever visit Ireland or Northern Ireland) due to the disjoint. The UFF is also short for the Ulster Freedom Fighters, who are essentially a terrorist group.

And no self-respecting Irish Republican would ever drink one, or a "car bomb", or any other such bollocksy drink. Although I'm from Wexford in the south, my family are "Shinnies", as in followers of Sinn Fein politics and, ahem, "activities".
Now someone please help me down from my soapbox.
