Avatar 6:06pm Holly in NC:

@Glenn - I bet those jobs are just playing hard to get ;-)

Woefully underemployed, I'm totally making use of my advanced degrees whilst walking other people's dogs. Will try & return before 7.

Hi Doug!

Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:08pm Doug Schulkind:

@NGH
I dig Joe Ochs' Phil Hill.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:09pm Parq:

I found my Phil on Joe freakin' Hill.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 6:09pm listener james from westwood:

i only found out what twerking was post the kerfluffle. azathoth as my witness, i thought that word what what you called using twitter while working. "twerking."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:10pm Doug Schulkind:

@Parq
You always pull out the blue(berry) material.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:10pm Doug Schulkind:

@LJFW
I love you for many reasons, "kerfuffle" not the least of them.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:13pm Doug Schulkind:

"Saint Pete will be the straw boss then..." Love it!

Lingerers Anonymous folks can hang around till 7pm to see what turns up.
Avatar 6:17pm glenn:

i get that the koch brothers and other capitalists hate unions, but if anybody can explain to me why the common working man seems to dislike them so much, i'm all ears.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 6:18pm listener james from westwood:

aw shucks. hey, did i add a free "l" to that word? heh, i had a few consonants to spare! anyone want to buy a vowel?
glenn: the answer is the koch bros and other capitalists, through their PR vipers.
Avatar 6:18pm glenn:

i'm like ljfw. i only found out that stupid dance was called twerking after the fact.
Avatar 6:20pm glenn:

i guess. to me, "right to work" means "right to work your ass off for nothing"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:21pm Doug Schulkind:

West African dancers have been twerking for centuries.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:26pm Parq:

Glenn, that Roxy Gordon track sounded like Gordon came out of the late 60s anti war movement. Those guys hated the unions because the unions had been successfully turned against the war protesters in particular and the young lefitists in general in the late 60s -- Richard Daley and the '68 DNC and all that.
Avatar 6:27pm glenn:

ooh. now that i think about it, king sonny ade has some of those dancers, so not stupid at all. it's stupid when miley cyrus does it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:28pm Doug Schulkind:

@Parq
Roxy came out of the West Coast/Texas American Indian Movement. And all of those things you mentioned, too.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 6:28pm listener james from westwood:

i don't have the hamstring flexure for that sort of torque.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:35pm davex:

Hey, all this music is keeping me from getting any work done!
Avatar 6:36pm hyde:

at least this Leon Payne number is a little more optimistic than that psycho killer one
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:38pm Doug Schulkind:

Well then MY work is done, davex!

@hyde
All psycho killer no filler, here on GTDS!
Avatar 6:41pm Matt from Springfield:

What's up with this Recession and all the self-serve FroYo shops that are sprouting up around here? (Appropos of nothing, natch).
Avatar 6:41pm glenn:

gastonia gallop rocks.
Avatar 6:44pm Holly in NC:

@Glenn - some unions are dysfunctional. For example, in a very large medical center which shall remain nameless, some low-level employees are unionized, others are not. Non-unionized employees can be fired for theft, having sex on the job, not doing their job - y'know, fireable offenses. Unionized employees not so much. In my experience this particular union in this particular environment does not lobby for better wages, working conditions, or anything remotely useful to employees or management & only breeds resentment. It's sad.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:50pm Doug Schulkind:

Extra points for the "habbit" / "wild rabbit" rhyme.
Avatar 6:53pm Holly in NC:

Oooh! Is too late to request "I'm an unskilled worker?"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:53pm Doug Schulkind:

I love you dear Holly.
Avatar 6:55pm Holly in NC:

No - I love YOU! :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:56pm Doug Schulkind:

GIVE THE DRUMMER RADIO PROGRAMMING ALERT...
Jesse Kaminsky's playlist page for Kaminsky Kamoutsky will be right over here... wfmu.org...
Avatar 6:56pm Matt from Springfield:

@Holly: Unions were once a great avenue for radical democracy, but we need something that would give employees a similar voice for this day and age. If only we'd think of it...

My late grandfather and another co-worker died of a powerful cancer from handling asbestos at their steel mill; before he died they managed to win a settlement against Bethlehem Steel for that through their own valiant efforts. The union wouldn't do shit for them--didn't want to ruffle feathers in defense of their workers or what?? So yeah, solutions ain't easy...
Avatar 6:57pm Matt from Springfield:

On a happier note, great choice in song Holly! I dig that one.
And great early Nilsson! Early *pseudonymous* Nilsson! I bet Irwin's wicked jealous of your find... ;)
Avatar 6:57pm hyde:

thanks for all the laborious tunes from this member of the ranks of the unemployed!
Avatar 6:58pm northguineahills:

Thanks Doug. Superb tunes!
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 6:59pm listener james from westwood:

thanks most kindly, doug!
Avatar 6:59pm Matt from Springfield:
