Google is telling me its quatermass...never heard of that one
9:08am David in ATL from NJ:

Thanks, Bob. Never heard this before.
Avatar 9:09am fred von helsing:

same series I think as 10,000,000 Miles to Earth or whatever the name was
9:09am David in ATL from NJ:

I wouldn't object to playing an additional track or 2 from this over the next couple of shows, Bob.
  9:11am scott:

'Quatermass and the Pit', both the BBC TV special from 1958 and the film from '67 are excellent science fiction story telling. The other Quatermass productions are also good. Nigel Kneale was great.
Avatar 9:15am fred von helsing:

and we are ALL Martians
9:17am David in ATL from NJ:

Maybe one of the better Becker & Fagan early works.
  9:18am scott:

Steely Dan and Lewis Carroll, too surreal.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:31am James in ATL:

Love "IF I". A great song improved by Ko and the Knockouts.
Avatar 9:33am fred von helsing:

Here's the one I mean, started as Quatermass and the Pit, got relabeled. Brilliant film. We ARE Martians. www.imdb.com...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:36am Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Damn straight fvh; makes me wonder what the other (?) Quatermass stuff is like. - Brits??...
  9:46am lloyd michigan:

President Kennedy sounds a lot like Yeh Yeh.
  9:50am lloyd michigan:

Just saw your comment. D'oh!
  9:52am lloyd michigan:

Any idea why the called it President Kennedy?
Avatar 10:01am fred von helsing:

Sweeet!
  10:11am Rhndrsn:

Ordinarily I'd be happily listening on my iPhone while lying in bed, early in a So Cal Saturday morning. Unfortunately the slick-looking new version of the WFMU app that just debuted has the most hiccup-y playback, especially for archived shows. It also doesn't let me see playlists for archived shows. This last feature is a must for my enjoyment of the Brainen experience. Crumbs.

Good Morning!

Woof!
Avatar 10:20am fred von helsing:

who does the wfmu app ? bummer that it's flakey. the kenzomatic 5000 has been working like a charm ever since it went sentient some months ago.
Avatar 10:20am fred von helsing:

AFAIK
Avatar 10:32am fred von helsing:

if there's an extra gizmo there you need an emergency song ready
  10:33am Joe in Brooklyn:

What's the difference between the new app and the old one?
  10:37am Rhndrsn:

@ Joe: Lots of new features, especially as concern navigation through archived shows - forward or backward in 30 sec. increments and an improved navigation bar that gets you anywhere within a show. The playlists pop-up from an icon at the bottom...or at least they should. Overall, design is better - but the most important thing, listening to the radio, is deeply flawed.
Avatar 10:39am fred von helsing:

be careful about emergency song tho. we had a DJ fail and I cued it and it was Portishead and jeez what a downshift.
Avatar 10:41am Jay/London:

Hi bob been listening but been busy cleaning the flat enjoying the show
  10:42am mike tp:

i guess ACT OF CREATION sounds like the TURTLES to me. real nicemaybe it was JOHNNY BARBATTA style drum work.i liked the OREGON tune also. reading a book by WALTERKOLOSKY POWER PASSION AND BEAUTY.. STORY OF MAHAVISHNU ORCHESTRA. nice weekend. beautiful weather here in JERSEY
  10:44am Rhndrsn:

Marvin Gaye + arranger Dave Van De Pitte = magic
Avatar 10:45am ChooChoo - ATL:

Marvin Gaye, "Trouble Man:" pure talent, no Auto-Tune.
  10:48am Karen:

Good morning Bob & company, Listening to the live show for the first time in too long & so glad to be here.
  10:53am Liz B.:

Hi Rhndrsn and any other folks checking in on the new iPhone app! Apologies about playlists missing for archives... that broke on the way to the app store. We hope to get it working this weekend. Thanks for your patience!
  10:58am Rhndrsn:

Thank you for responding, Liz. I know that the app, like everything else @ 'FMU, is a labor of love. Mostly, though, it's the intermittent audio that frustrates with the new one. And usually I'm not the least bit superstitious about Friday the 13th...in this case, a weird choice of day to roll out a new version.
