The high lonesome sound has taken root in the Land of the Midnight Sun! Earlybird Stringband is one of Norway's leading bluegrass bands. The group has been nominated twice for the Spellemannprisen Award (Norway's answer to the Grammys) and was runner-up for best European bluegrass band at a big Dutch festival.

But on its just-released third album LassoFolk, Earlybird branches out from straight-ahead bluegrass - by combining Norwegian folk styles with American roots. Fresh from appearances on Norwegian national TV and Radio, Earlybird is comes our way to show off its new cross-cultural sound on WFMU (the band's first US radio appearance!) before heading off to Boston and then to taking the music back home to the southeast - Earlybird's first US tour.
