Musicians from two very different seafaring cultures are making music together this week in New York: James Lovell, New York-based Afro-Caribbean Garifuna singer and educator originally from Belize, bagpiper Damien Herrou of the Breton pipe-and-drum band Bagad Plougastell, and
Armel An Hejer and Alain Leclere, traditional Kan ha Diskan singers visiting from Brittany in France.
Lovell and his group will perform with the Breton musicians at an Inter-Celtic festival at Connolly's, West 45th St. on Friday night September 27th and at the Taste of France Festival in Bryant Park that weekend. But this unusual cross-cultural collaboration kicks off this Saturday night on WFMU!
Massive thanks to our illustrious engineers Gil Shuster and Glenn Luttman!
