I've been a mayo-naysayer for years. Weird stuff, weird results.

So, speaking of fries, Burger King is offering a new reduced fat version called Satisfries, and after the website story I saw about it, one comment says, "I can't get no Satisfraction.." and someone replies with "But I fry, but I fry.."
Oh, ho, hooo -- those commenters.

Bobby: I'd like an omelet, plain, and a chicken salad sandwich on wheat toast, no mayonnaise, no butter, no lettuce. And a cup of coffee.

Waitress: A #2, chicken salad sand. Hold the butter, the lettuce, the mayonnaise, and a cup of coffee. Anything else?

Bobby: Yeah, now all you have to do is hold the chicken, bring me the toast, give me a check for the chicken salad sandwich, and you haven't broken any rules.

Waitress: You want me to hold the chicken, huh?

Bobby: I want you to hold it between your knees.

A friend who once was a short-order cook recently told me you can use mayonnaise to fry toasted sandwiches (your grill cheese, Monte Cristos, reubens, etc). The mere thought nearly stopped my heart.

  12:51pm
dc waters:

I've never had it in the ear before.
Avatar 12:51pm
amEdeo:

I can't vouch for it, but I tend to do the opposite of anything Thurston Moore recommends. Then again, claiming and recommending are very different things, aren't they?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:53pm

Mayonnaise is also a folk remedy for head lice, apparently.
One is supposed to slather their head with a thick coating of it, which supposedly suffocates the lice.
Why mayonnaise?

Durkee's Famous Sauce is the reigning king of obscure sandwich spreads.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:57pm
Uncle Michael:

Leftover turkey with Durkee's was a staple of Thanksgiving weekends at my grandparents'.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:59pm
Rich in Washington:

I think it was one of those brand things that didn't quite spread (pun intended) to the West.
I remember it briefly appearing in a big grocery chain here in the 80s and now you almost never see it around here.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:00pm
Rich in Washington:

There's a burger chain in the NW called Burgerville that had their own secret sauce type spread that was similar to Durkees and eventually, they started selling it in jars.
Avatar 1:03pm
northguineahills:

Anyone see my dog?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:06pm
pacific standard simon:

Durkee's is basically just mayo with mustard added, as far as I can recall. Often do this for sandwiches, or add Sriracha to mayo.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:08pm
Rich in Washington:

I am pretty sure Burgerville's spread - upon which they've built their flimsy, region-bound empire - is just that: mayo, yellow mustard and a tiny bit of relish thrown in for good measure.

I may have turned your dog into Durkee, sorry, northguineahills.
