ARP! One of the unsung heroes of Detroit
Avatar 12:08pm
Diane Kamikaze:

I had no idea they were from Detroit, cool1 Love the Little Pigs Little Pigs record!
Avatar 12:08pm

I've got the ARP LP. Good stuff.
Avatar 12:10pm
Jim Devoid:

Never heard ARP, but always remember seeing their ads in MRR during the mid 80's. Thanks for playing them!
Avatar 12:15pm
Cheri Pi:

I've seen ARP a dozen times!!! maybe even my first "show" in 1985.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:17pm
tim from champaign:

Ewolf who photographed countless Touch and Go and other midwestern bands played drums for ARP.
Avatar 12:19pm

I didn't know that, Tim.

ITA, Cheri.
What store was that, Mark?
Avatar 12:24pm
Cecile:

Diane, I think it's time for Peer Pressure with Angry Red Planet.
  12:25pm
Mark:

It was called Sam's Jams. Located on 9 Mile Road in Fashionable Ferndale.
  12:27pm
Mark:

I don't even remember the guy's name--it wasn't Tim, though. He only listened to really fierce hardcore punk music. I used to tease him by acting all erudite and say, "Ah, yes--it's wonderful. Completely devoid of the commercial trappings of harmony and melody."
Avatar 12:27pm
Cecile:

Sam's Jams! I remember going there a few times and finding zines that were sold out in A2.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:28pm

Indian has the Eyehategod feedback sound down. I'm digging this.
  12:29pm
Mark:

Ferndale has actually become very fashionable now. Gay people have transformed the shopping district into a fun and fabulous destination (I'm not even being sarcastic).

Chug, Chug, Chug.....
Avatar 12:31pm

That seems to be starting in my neighborhood. I encourage it heartily.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:32pm

Ferndale has The Blue Nile - my all time favorite Ethiopian restaurant.
  12:32pm
Mark:

My investment advice: wherever gay people are flocking, buy real estate.
Avatar 12:32pm
Cecile:

we have a blue nile here, too.
  12:34pm
Mark:

Wow, what's with all the Detroiters today? I wasn't aware there was one in Ferndale. There was one in downtown Detroit and Ann Arbor--very tasty.

they can play - the only thing a little weak about it is the vocalist - he's just a little too "period". The drummer is tight as hell.

I tried finding this photo of Kayo Dot playing on a mountain top in San Diego last summer in light of Cecile's comment about Kvelertak's sound. Couldn't find it. Then Diane played that Vaura track from the upcoming LP and Toby (the composer of KD) plays bass in that band.
