Hey Mandy! Thanks for chiming in.. Trying to keep it upbeat on here until the coffee wears off :)

I'm gatecrashing this party. That Meridian Brothers track was delightful

Damn it, Tome! So jealous. I'm going to take a long lunch break to walk further a field in order to find some decent eats

That Johnny does commercials, is not remarkable. What's remarkable is a food company would want him as a spokesman.
  1:12pm
Marmalade Kitty:

He loves butter.. he needed the money.. or both. Company needed an ex sex pistol member for obvious reasons!
  1:15pm
Marmalade Kitty:

either way, Johhny sucks coporate cock
  1:17pm
Woody:

He also was really great on some British political tv talk shows - although sometimes its hard to tell what is ornery and what is him just being dense
Avatar 1:21pm

a good idea gone very bad. -www.torontosun.com...
Avatar 1:23pm

Maybe if EMI hadn't ripped him off when his records were selling millions, he wouldn't have ended up buttering someone's muffin on TV.
Avatar 1:26pm

VAN SHIPLEY ROCKS!
  1:27pm
Woody:

Unfortunately all the Van Shipley records are shitty Indian pressings that are usually in scratchy condition... that is if they aren't 78s!
Avatar 1:30pm
Cheri Pi:

Sand those records Woody!
  1:30pm
Marmalade Kitty:

a sex suicide pact that gone wrong? for the man at least.. Tragic, though I had to laugh!
  1:32pm
Woody:

Hey Cheri, I read that Instructable and it still scares me! I have a couple Van Shipley LPs off of ebay, not ready to test on those!
Avatar 1:35pm
Droll:

Indeed, you'd think The Man With the Golden Guitar would have a dozen remastered reissues by now but who knows where the masters are 50 years down the road.

Speaking of sanding LPs, there are lots of good videos on YT of people using wood glue to clean records, apparently it works.
  1:38pm
Marmalade Kitty:

I'm sorry, I shouldn't have laughed! But it was instinctive..!?
Avatar 1:38pm
Cheri Pi:

I have one of those squishy rubbery roller thingies for cleaning my records, it works great!

Loving the show Woody. It's amazing that FMU listeners can enjoy two fill-ins while missing the regulars greatly!

Ken From Hyde Park:

Hey...is Fabio in the building today? I have a failure of technology. This web site is supposed to show a countdown clock to the government shutdown, but appears to be an ordinary traffic cam. Buses seem to be on or close to schedule, anyway.

Glenn, the link didn't open up on my PC...and I think that I'm grateful for that!

tim from champaign:

I should check with my buddy who is a media preservationist if he's tried the wood glue method yet?

Gorilla Glue could run a whole new ad campaign.
Avatar 2:03pm
glenn:

gorilla glue will stick to the records and not peel off, so not a good idea.
  2:04pm
mandy from bard:

oh yeayuh!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:07pm
tim from champaign:

Just curious, what's the rule about how many 7 second dumps can occur in a certain time period?
  2:09pm
Woody:

The rule is how much time you got buffered. So what I'm listening to in the studio is like 14-21 secs before what you hear. I think it has been tweaked when I started so not sure if we have 2 or 3 dumps and if they are 5 or 7 secs each.
Avatar 2:11pm
Droll:

There were several YT videos using Gorilla Wood Glue -- the wood glue chemistry can't stick to vinyl. That technique actually looks like a very good method (of last resort) for cleaning LPs that sound like someone ate lunch on them.
Even at it's worst, it can't harm a record, unlike scrubbers and steamers.
  2:20pm
Woody:

I think this Asmus Tietchens track is making me nauseuous
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:21pm
Whosondephone:

Yess YESSS!!!!
Avatar 2:29pm
glenn:

wood glue is polyvinyl acetate. gorilla glue is polyurethane. i use lots of it, and i guarantee you, it sticks like shit to a blanket.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:31pm
tim from champaign:

I've literally glued my fingers together with Gorilla Glue. Not on purpose either.
Avatar 2:33pm
glenn:

which i guess is the purpose. there's not much point in glue that doesn't stick.

Muslimgauze: the 2PAC of the avant-garde.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:36pm

Wait, lecherous old men won't be coming?
  2:36pm

Ahmad, but 2Pac isn't dead.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:38pm
tim from champaign:

Gorilla Glue also stains up your skin pretty good too.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:40pm
Dominick:

If it's still wet, you can clean Gorilla Glue off you hands with paint thinner. After about a minute it's too late.
Avatar 2:41pm
Droll:

Gorilla Wood Glue on a LP: www.youtube.com...
I think someone just needs to repackage a $2 bottle of glue as $40/bottle "record cleaner" and make a bundle.
  2:43pm
Marmalade Kitty:

nice!
Avatar 2:45pm
glenn:

i've been walking around with hands stained by gorilla glue for about the past 15 years. it's truly wonderful stuff.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:45pm
Dominick:

I've had mixed results cleaning LP's with wood glue.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:45pm
tim from champaign:

Lecherous old men all messed up on Gorilla Glue. That's a party
  2:48pm
Woody:

Tim, does that mean lecherous old men with sticky fingers? Hmmm
Avatar 2:48pm
Droll:

Old men hold their Gorilla Glue better than youngin's all hopped up on the latest Super Glue. For one thing, the glue has dried.
  2:52pm
Marmalade Kitty:

buzzin on glue in the late 70's.. what a blast!
  2:53pm
Marmalade Kitty:

*I imagine..
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:53pm

Looks like a picked a bad week to stop sniffing glue.
Yay!!! Michael Hurley !!
  2:59pm
Marmalade Kitty:

I once inhaled some neat petrol vapour for longer than I should have done 20-30 seconds, and heard a spacemen3 like "drone" in thin air.. with 70' like top of the pops visual trails! great buzz.. not advised ;)
