good friday to you, kurt.
Avatar 3:12pm hamburger:

always a treat
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:13pm northguineahills:

Will be dropping coin on WFMU this weekend. Got drained by NYS taxes then anticipated (2008 was a bitch). Only waiting until this weekend to figure out how to spread the love.
Avatar 3:13pm βrian:

To this I do listen while I shave my chin with a snickersnee .
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:15pm Carmichael:

Hiya Koit. Is the gif an outright theft of one of Fabio's show titles?? :)
Avatar 3:17pm Kurt Gottschalk:

hi everyone! thanks for tuning in. and do please do click on the thermometer above or go to www.wfmu.org... and support our fall fundraising campaign. your donations will help us build a new broadcast studio with room for an audience of 100!
  3:20pm Mark Helsten:

I made a donation a week or so back, but can't re all if it went to your show or not :S Hopefully yes! I am a sucker for Woof Moo Tees
Avatar 3:21pm Kurt Gottschalk:

thanks, mark!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:25pm northguineahills:

This Otomo/Tereault is great!
  3:25pm un dia.:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:25pm rsj:

so that really was not bork?
Avatar 3:26pm Parq:

This background music is exactly the way I remember the early 70s.
  3:28pm Brett:

Anyone heard IQU's version of "Loving you" with theremin?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:33pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...always thot Minnie on that was sexy, emotionally affecting (a good song) - & geez crazy high notes awlready
...have always imagined a heavier arrangement on a cover/remake !...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:34pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...don't know if it was the cart, the horse, the woof or the moo...
Avatar 3:34pm hamburger:

cart first! horse was always there. only till you strapped a horse on it?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:38pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...'cart before horse' does not mean the same as 'chicken or egg'
...of course
...could split difference of cart & horse & say 'course'...
Avatar 3:38pm hamburger:

the horse represents freedom! the cart represents conformity. steer the cart in the right direction, then jackpot! you need something to steer yourself towards?!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:41pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...You hambrgr - like in B. Gita

...Got the FMU mailer
...& thinkin' time to move up from T-Shirt Level pledger to puttin' on my big-boy underpants & going $15/month...I can survive that, & that might even begin to pay for my stream use (I dunno)
...& *I* forgot to get a career, folx! & I'll still do that...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:41pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...I mean *YES* hamburger...
Avatar 3:46pm hamburger:

It's a good question though, the horse, or the cart. Without a cart, the horse would just wonder around the fields eating hay? Focus too much on the cart, and you'd just want to make sure that the cart looks like it's doing well? Defeats the purpose. Get a cart, and a horse, and drive it to hell your own way? Be in control!
  3:47pm fascinoma:

Kurt, I think the last song might be mislabeled: can't get any hits online for "Vibe Cathedral" but "Vibe Central" brings up the group.
Avatar 3:49pm Kurt Gottschalk:

ooooooops, you're right! thanks.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:51pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...the horse or the cart or the cathedral
...this is the question NIitzsche poses...
Avatar 3:51pm WKR-CP in Cincinnati:

You are the only one I put up with DJKG, who plays O'M.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:52pm davex:

Good evening Kurt and everyone...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:55pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...too Beatledelic, CP - ?? : )
Avatar 3:55pm Kurt Gottschalk:

haha, thx wkrcp!
Avatar 3:56pm Kurt Gottschalk:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:57pm northguineahills:

Wait, if I spread my donation thin, then I won't get swag. This is going to make for hard choices.
Avatar 3:57pm Parq:

I regret that I have but one pledge to give for a month-long fundraiser.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:58pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Oh! - I thot that *was* the gif !
...This recalls Colbert opening a bit...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:59pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...can't fool me ! This is DollyParton...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:01pm davex:

I see I didn't miss the Czech set today...
Avatar 4:02pm WKR-CP in Cincinnati:

NGH-spread your donationd around like a virus, then you can make Joe McG's life inneresting by emailing him your list of swag, I do it all the time ;)
Avatar 4:07pm Kurt Gottschalk:

you can spread your pledge out, ngh! we'll tally it up and you'll get your swag!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:08pm Mike East:

i just walked past the Colbert Report studio and there's some graffitti of what looks like Colbert portrayed as some type of animal. signed "hanksy"...then a few feet up, there's some more scribbling and it says "sorry, I'm not banksy"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:12pm northguineahills:

Maybe I'll also make Joe McG's life more interesting by just randomly emailing what I feel....., and what are those sounds behind my head?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:14pm northguineahills:

(le sigh, my $15 pledge from the March marathon goes out tonight, I'm going to near mouse this one now that I have income again [paying off debts was stressful, $300 increase in rent this month didn't help])
Avatar 4:14pm Droll:

Actually, I wouldn't mind listening to that all day.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:15pm Andrew Waterloo:

In the last marathon I was given a summary of my pledges with the option to reselect everything my swag at my total.
Avatar 4:19pm WKR-CP in Cincinnati:

Do you dare to out-swag me AW?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:23pm Andrew Waterloo:

@WKR-CP, not this month. I might make a small pledge later on in the month. But, I pledged early and often the last two rounds.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:28pm northguineahills:

Thanks Andrew, the last time I had income (2011), and I spread it around, it took about 7 emails to straighten out how to divide up my pledge and for what swag to get.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:31pm Tome:

..is wondering if there really is a difference between a statement and a question? ( this being a question ends in question mark..)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:33pm northguineahills:

@Tome, ...and really, that's, like, only what, you think...(?)
Avatar 4:35pm WKR-CP in Cincinnati:

I was outfitted head to toe in WFMU swag today. I was kind of jealous of myself.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:36pm DCE:

not sure I can do this...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:36pm Mike East:

@WKR-CP - I need some FMU pants, undies, socks and shoes to make it complete. Today I'm rockin' tee shirt, hoodie, and messenger bag, though.
  4:36pm Mark Helsten:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:37pm northguineahills:

Well, I'd be totally jealous of myself if I was CP....

(if you look hard enough in my apt, in every visage, there is some WFMU ephemera).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:37pm northguineahills:

I don't think the WFMU onesy will fit me until I diet.....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:37pm Tome:

,... does the snoopy dance to the coffee pot.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:38pm Mike East:

I thought listening to this station meant we'd never have to hear this song ever again?!
strange, but out of nowhere, I was singing this song yesterday...then I snapped out of it...and started singing "We built this city" instead.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:38pm northguineahills:

I'll admit, Alicia American tunes were snappy....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:38pm common:

My father played american pie everyday for months when i was a kid...oh god....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:39pm fleep:

Excuse me, I have blundered into K-EARTH 101, where is WFMU please?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:39pm northguineahills:

The first time I heard this song, it was a for a anti-DUI PSA in the 80s.
Avatar 4:39pm WKR-CP in Cincinnati:

Hey, Mizz American Pi....
Avatar 4:40pm WKR-CP in Cincinnati:

ME I get those "We built this city" earworms all the time!!! What gives?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:41pm northguineahills:

Thanks to Ken, still getting Bohemian Rhapsody earworms... *shakes angry fist*
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:42pm Mike East:

In Highschool, when I failed honors english freshman year, I got bumped down to the dumb class. The first month of Sophomore year was spent analyzing every line of this song. Literally, the teacher in the front of the room with a tape player, hitting pause every 10 seconds.

CP - we are doing backline for starship next week so everytime I come across the order, I can't help it! Guys at the office keep getting really annoyed about it.
Avatar 4:42pm WKR-CP in Cincinnati:

then I go through the whole 10 steps of getting"We built this city"" out of my head, using guilt, shame, blame, a few chuckles, denial (how could this happen to me?!)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:42pm northguineahills:

I have American Pie on double 7" I found in a junk store.
Avatar 4:43pm WKR-CP in Cincinnati:

F.U. Ken (for dat), if you're listen-reading. I was in serious earworm hell that week.
Avatar 4:44pm WKR-CP in Cincinnati:

I also relive a few bars of the video for more chuckles....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:44pm Tome:

FFS ! no..
Avatar 4:44pm WKR-CP in Cincinnati:

  4:44pm Fred:

If you get an earworm, try this: run through a Boston song in your head.
Avatar 4:46pm Mizz American Pi:

I just learned that another earworm song was by Alabama, I never knew I knew an Alabama song...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:51pm northguineahills:

Crap, gotta wait until the 15th to pledge as I just dropped 2/3rds my amount of rent this last week to the NYS income tax, and there is no longer a choice to pay by check (coincidentally got my first checkbooks in a decade yesterday [just ran out this summer])
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:52pm common:

Beeeeeersies to all!!!
Avatar 4:55pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Between meeting and zee beer. Brief respite inna 'phones.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:56pm northguineahills:

45 minutes until beersies!
Avatar 4:58pm Mizz American Pi:

Whaddja get for lunch more importantly RTD??
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:58pm northguineahills:

American Pie came out in 1971. (not to be confused by the movie)
Avatar 4:58pm Mizz American Pi:

Wait-! BEERsIEeeZ?????
Avatar 4:59pm Mizz American Pi:

That's funny-that is the real Pi's birth year too.
Avatar 5:00pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

The rain was too intense for the four-lousy-block walk to the groovy food truck, so it was TOTAL SURRENDER at the next-door chain sandwich cafe thing. beh.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:01pm northguineahills:

Avatar 5:02pm Mizz American Pi:

Oh mah gahd! wash-no!-DROWN that distaste from your mouth with the Lawd's beersiez. What a total fucking dissapointment. I didn't get the lunch I wanted either.
  5:03pm Brigitte:

The Miller it will be!
Avatar 5:03pm Mizz American Pi:

Pi don't lie NGH.
Avatar 5:05pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Man, the Rev.TD was three years old and marching on streets paved with the bones of my enemies, in 1971.... it was a very good year.
Avatar 5:06pm Mizz American Pi:

Amen Pappy! You was just a wee radish back in those times.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:06pm northguineahills:

In '71, I was half a decade away before I became a crotch fruit.
Avatar 5:07pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Was so happy to get that Blonk Organ iPhone app before it was removed...for copyright reasons or something? Did it ever come back? It's a thing of beauty.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:09pm northguineahills:

Why hadn't I heard of the Blonk app when it actually existed?!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:15pm Carmichael:

I missed American Pie. There IS a God!! I ended up with the karma burrito for lunch. And the local boozer has all craft IPAs during October. Everything's coming up radish rosettes!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:17pm northguineahills:

Been working late this week so I can get off early today (well, I was showing up late, as I had no meetings as well),as the gf is out of the country. so, less then a half hour until beersies!
Avatar 5:17pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

That is rather radish.
Avatar 5:17pm Kurt Gottschalk:

the blonk app is supposed to be coming back. jaap endorses it and he's working with someone. actually i think it's out again for iphone but not driod. (i have a droid so i haven't looked in a while)
Avatar 5:23pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

The Blonk Organ is utterly fantastic. Large grid of Jaap's face, each one triggers a different sample of some spectacular mouth noise. And they loop. Guaranteed to clear that seat next to you on a crowded city bus.
Avatar 5:27pm stray teepee:

That sounds like hair shears with Asama. :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:34pm Carmichael:

Supraphon! Rock me, Kurt!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:36pm Carmichael:

Sadly, no Blonk app in the iphone app store yet.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:37pm davex:

Czech Cultural Center - I wonder if they play WFMU regularly there...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:41pm Carmichael:

Bad news from Japp Blonk: The app has been removed due to issues brought by the original designer of the Blonk Organ. Japp Blonk says: "It's incredible and very regrettable: after having received updates about the progress of the project (porting the Flash version of the Blonk Organ to the iOS platform) for almost six months, the original designer made a sudden U-turn when the app was ready and available, and didn't want to approve it. Also, he did not wish to cooperate in making a revised version that could be issued any time soon. The iOS programmer Chris de Chiara and I are now planning to collaborate on a brand new app. I hope to have news about this soon."
  5:42pm Brigitte:

My favorite! Czech West Side Story!! Thanks KG!

Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:45pm northguineahills:

Ok, beersies time Thanks Kurt! Enjoy the weekend everyone!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:48pm dale:

i need to check out the supraphone label. will the riaa make the station pay these artists? lord I hope so - they deserve it.
  5:51pm bngolde:

i wish i had three hundred dollar headphones right now...
Avatar 5:51pm Kurt Gottschalk:

dale - supraphone was the gov't label under communism, although they were a lot more lenient about letting western music in than in russia. but they were all sanctioned. it was the only label for a while, until paton (?) came along. not sure how that one operated. but supraphone would actually put out beatles, stones, etc. "best ofs" as well.
Avatar 5:51pm Kurt Gottschalk:

who know how payment worked, tho.
