Some time over 20 yrs. ago I forgot which WFMU DJ, female, devoted an hour or maybe the entire show to music done Serbian style by an American band. They'd go like 2, 2, 2, and 4 beats, or 2, 3, 3...weird shit like that. I used to play my grandparents' Croatian records but I was completely unfamiliar with this Serbian style; however, my Albanian landlord's daughter knew about it.

On the one hand, I think most of the people is familiar with Rush thus making it more listenable (i.e. it would be difficult to make listeners pledge). Robert re Serbian music played by FMU dj. Was it Paula Gordon? On in late 80s into 90s. She was on at some point very late night/2a.m ish. She was in the art scene doing sound design for The Wooster Group, Jo Andres, Steve Buscemi, DanceNoise and others. She moved to Belgrade afterward...and was a dj there among other things. Remember Paula, Ken?

Thanks, Mary, but I dont think it was that show. In those days I went out to my parked car to listen to WFMU if I wasn't driving, and I don't think it was that late at night. In fact I think it was early evening. Of course Paula Gordon could've been filling in at that time. And it might not have been over 20 yrs. ago; it could well have been any time from 1989 thru 1995.
