Live performance by Mark Humble & Friends (Dave Foster, Chris North, Jamie Morris)

Beatlesque pop songs with melodic hooks are Mark Humble's specialty. After working on a couple of albums, Humble stepped back from music making for over 10 years, dipping his toes back in with a few solo performances and the release of "One Centre Street" about a year ago. Mark, with a little help from his friends, has jumped back into performing with, as he says, "musical skills, thrills, passion and abandon. Mistakes will be made on a grand scale. A handsaw will be used. Three part harmony will be sung. A double bass will vie for attention with a screaming electric guitar." Come listen to those musical thrills!

Hi Everybody! Welcome to Monday! hope you've made a contribution to our fundraiser for the Studio of Tomorrow (click on the box above to make a pledge). I'm running back and forth to the live room to set up for a live performance for Mark Humble, so apologies if I don't respond immediately.

Was just talking last week, wondering when someone is going to come out with a definitive Badfinger documentary the way they did with Nilsson. Both are extremely underappreciated...and this song ties them together.

This Nilsson record was one of the very first singles I bought.

Setting up a band is as good as a doctor's note, for excusing playing actual vinyl records.

@Mike, One is the Lonliest Number

Irene- Long Promised Road reached #89; not a smash hit. Band not considered hip during this time and they made some of their best music from Sunflower through Holland...so they were completely ignored on the charts.

Sem Chumbo:

Just joining in now, Irene. Glad to be listening along.

Irene - Today's playlist is like a night at my house when the wine's flowing and the sentimental records fight their way to the front of the collection! Like as in SPOT ON! Awesome!

Classic Todd, you have made my day, Irene
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:49pm
Irene Trudel:

Thanks Ted & Sean! Happy to make your days a little pleasanter. @don, I knew Long Promised Road didn't get that high in the charts. Great song anyway, and funny that they would think it "hit single" material.

Irene, i always tell people that the Happy Jack era Who was the first concert i attended. But really it was the Association, and i am now accepting that.
  2:41pm
don:

The Association still going strong with 4 orginal members---a beautiful song often overlooked-most people know 'Windy' (yea Ruthann Friedman) and 'Cherish' but for me this song and the album it's on, "Birthday" is their high watermark. Like Beach Boys, they were pigeonholed as 'corny', but they never escaped that.

Also good to see so many hearts here indicating love for station. Sometimes there are few, and it often seems the ones who have the most to say have the least to offer.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:47pm

I've always loved The Association. Those harmonies and song structures are just killer! And Everything That Touches You might be the first thing I actually was aware of as one of their tunes (I was kind of a young'un in those days).

Your folks told you about the Association, you mean.
