Favoriting October 23, 2013: SINGLES GOING ON VACATION! (Studio of Tomorrow Campaign, week 4)

Listen to this show: Pop-up listen Pop-up player!

October is here, and our SILENT (shh!) Studio Of Tomorrow fundraising campaign is heading into its final week. I'll only mention it once, and briefly, on the air -- so I'm depending on the written word to convince you to PLEASE PLEDGE!

You can read about the Studio Of Tomorrow Campaign in detail, but the short story is that we're trying to make public radio theater lemonade out of the losing-our-ground-floor-tenant lemons we were handed last year. We're asking for your help to finish building out our ground floor space and to purchase the basic audio and other gear that's needed to present live music performances and other special WFMU events that YOU THE LISTENER can see in person.

Tonight it's the fourth of FIVE special shows this month to help get you excited about the Studio Of Tomorrow Campaign, to remind you of how awesome WFMU is (not to mention my show in particular? maybe?), and to motivate you to pledge. It's the annual Singles Going Steady week here at WFMU, so tonight I'm bringing you Singles On Vacation!I picked up TONS of 45s over the summer on trips to several cities in Scandinavia and to Barcelona (which wasn't entirely a vacation, since I was working with the WFMU crew on the Primavera Sound broadcast).
I've played a smattering of the records I picked up, but there are still a LOT I haven't gotten to yet. So tonight you'll hear nothing but cheap (mostly) European (mostly) singles from the '70s (mostly). You won't know them (mostly), but you'll like them (mostly)!

If you've already pledged, THANK YOU! Your support is greatly appreciated. If not,
P L E A S E   P L E D G E   N O W !
Stay tuned for two great live bands next week, Pony Time and Chastity Belt! And please take a moment to Like The Evan "Funk" Davies Show on Facebook and follow me on Twitter! Thank you.!

Maybe you know this already, but 5-0 Red Sox, bottom of the 3rd. It would be 8-0 but Beltran robbed Papi of a grand slam to almost the exact same spot where he hit it in game two of the ALCS. Several comedic Cardinals errors so far already.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:20pm

And now Beltran's out of the game, I guess he hurt himself on the play.

OK Nobody cares at this point, but that bizarre track by Shag from the last set was actually an English version of a Greek song called Dirlada that was a hit for Dionysis Savvopoupos , at the time "the Bob Dylan Of greece". The original song was sorta cool and inspired many awful cover versions in Europe I think.
