Closest I've been to Hell: voluntary cold turkey morphine withdrawal while afflicted with Lyme Disease and subsequent brain swelling.

One hot day in 2009 my blood sugar topped at 600 I collapsed on the sidewalk and woke up two days later in a hospital bed

Eyepatch Fox:

Or, maybe driving from NJ to Virginia with the aunt who consistently drives 10 miles under the speed limit and prefers not to listen to music in the car, but instead likes Catholic talk radio. That might be closer to Hell, actually.

The hospital took the liberty of inserting a catheter into my peepee. It wasn't fun waking up to that I can tell you

KenfHP: - like giving birth to a rock thru the tube from kidney to bladder. Worst part maybe - having no idea what it was - being sure it was it was a kidney infection & if it felt like that I was sure to die.

Good gawd, that happened to me, too. Rushed to the hospital. I had to get sonic blasted to remove it. Seems I don't drink enough water and too much tea.

Avatar 4:23am
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...if someone had simply said - you'll pee it out before too long, & when the tube kidney to bladder squeezes on it it will hurt like nothing else & you will be crazy nauseous - & when not you will feel fine - that would have made all the difference...not real impressed w/ hospitals & professionals so far...
...People fall on ice & people laugh - wtf - ?!?!

I took so much Tylenol with codeine I was higher than the space station

that diabetic guy:

You cannot imagine how it was getting around with a broken ankle in a cast for 3 months. Worrying it wasn't going to heal because of diabetes
  4:27am
that diabetic guy:

The miracle was I didn't turn into a drug addict on the codeine with all I took

- folks, my plan has been to move up $15/month for FMU, but I turned out poorer than I thot this week. I'm gonna do that whether the fundraiser is over or not, & no matter how annoyed by the shaming process I get ( - or not). 'til then - I'm Heartless for Halloween...

aaaaand those high octane opiate patches.... and slow release morphine pills... not everyone has the same chemistry.
Avatar 4:39am
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

- I think they like prescribing vicodin because they know it irritates your stomach & doesn't last long...what w/ the problems w/ prescription opiates & things, there is pressure now to change restrictions...

Eyepatch Fox:

Everyone is different. Vicodin I have little issue with, while percocet makes me very nauseated. There are slow release versions of most of these pills, so it isn't always the case that it doesn't last long.
Avatar 4:53am
Eyepatch Fox:

I have a very high tolerance for opiates, too. Mostly because I'm in significant chronic pain. I take opiates and perk up. I tend to use pain killers so that I can have a clean kitchen, or maybe do some exercises, or maybe be social out in the world with people.
Avatar 4:54am
Jay/London:

Morning KP storm on its way here
Avatar 4:55am
Eyepatch Fox:

It's a shame that the same pills that help people in pain are the ones that are over prescribed to drug-seekers and turn people into pill-junkies.

Man, my roommate came home wasted, ranted for a while, passed out in his bedroom, then woke up suddenly and crashed his way back to the bathroom, covered it with urine, and then passed out on the couch. Two hours later,I'm hiding in my bedroom, wondering what his sudden stompy walking all over the apartment is about.
