Lights as red as the bar in “Mean Streets.” Started to obsessively eat pistachios until we realized we weren’t wanted there; some “business” was taking place. Walked out and we were covered in red/pink dye on our hands & mouths.

	11:40pm Scott Briggs: I'm really more into the Velvets than much of Lou solo, but I'm a huge fan of both of course. Turned out Sterling Morrison graduated from my high school. But I was class o' 86 myself. Good God. Nobody in my class would have known Lou or the Velvets..they were more into goddamned hair metal and Def Leppard,Van halen and stuff.

It's worthy, for a one-hour TV show thing - makes the point he brought Raymond Chandler & Burroughs sensibilities into the Rock form. & the Velvets created the whole idea of Alternative Rock in the 1st place in a very real sense - & nobody here is unaffected by that...I mean - in the sense like Dylan single-handedly brought Poetry to Rock when there was none before - True - & Not True... - American Masters debuts a Hendrix episode Tuesday; reviews say it's not much that's new, but it's done well...

But I was class o' 86 myself. Good God. Nobody in my class would have known Lou or the Velvets..they were more into goddamned hair metal and Def Leppard,Van halen and stuff.
