I've only been able to listen to the new Lee album straight through once. Each time I hear a song on WFMU I'm able to pick up more of what's going on. Lee's last 2 solo records have been very well crafted, full of nuances and complex. They only get better with age as they say.

Speaking of which, is Kebekelektrik coming up? I've noticed that their "Magic Fly" works QUITE well as background music for news (case in point: with my iPod in one ear and boring news station WTOP in my car--it synched up great! Made WTOP tolerable!)

Might work for WFMU's National Weather Service updates...has a good synth beat and a sense of urgency...

@north geographer hills: Actually, I can't never remember the value of the Arctic Circle--66 or 67? Looking it up now, it's 66.5622. Think of it as: 66° 33' 44" -- mneumonic of double numbers.

Lewis:

The latitude of the arctic circle is 90 - the angle between Earth's axis of rotation and the plane of the ecliptic (which is the plane in which all planets in our solar system orbit the sun). For quick and dirty that is 90 - 23.5 = 66.5 or 66 degrees 30 min...

Avatar 🧩 5:39pm

@Lewis: Right you are, the Arctic Circle is always positioned at a 90 degree angle--as a geographer I say latitude to mean the map coordinates (angular measurement from the Equator, regardless of axis tilt at the time).
