Evan, I saw YES on the 90125 tour at Nassau freakin Coliseum,

Thought you meant HPL, the band. As for the original, just read The Mountains of Madness in Oates' collection. the intense and compelling mood makes me overlook the weak points--maybe that's what HPL the band was after.

I confess I still don't know HPL the band as well as I should, need to go rectify that and soon! Thanks for reminding me! I have the Oates' collection indeed. However, I recommend S.T. Joshi's Penguin annotated Lovecrafts much more for various reasons. I re-read ATMOM last year and it had been a while, still a thrilling novella. Some of HPL doesn't hold up for me
any longer but that did. Too bad they killed the movie.
  9:51pm
LovecraftDude888:

Was gonna say I recall YES doing Tempus Fugit live...that was cool.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:53pm
Uncle Michael:

HPL was quite a fine Chicago psychedelic band. Trademark, dual lead vocals...
  9:56pm
LovecraftDude888:

Right, have heard some of their stuff. Need to go get those CDs for sure. I always wondered if The Fixx Shuttered Room was sort of named after that horrible Derleth story one of his "Lovecraft" tales that was not HPL! Awful. But good Fixx album.

I think so, Lovecraft dude. Its on Glenridge off Bloomfield. They ok the first few times you scour the place, but its not like they get anything new in. Picked up some Hoodoo Gurus there, cheap. I usually go there when I visit a friend that lives right down the street.
  10:05pm
LovecraftDude888:

I hadn't been there in ages until two years back. I used to go to Passaic Book Center the predecessor to Montclair, THAT was like, one of the greatest bookstores ever. Was right down the street from my dad's old apt. at that point. I mentioned that to The Smithereens a while ago and Dennis Diken recalled the Passaic one fondly!!
