I guess it's a resolution, but I made it in the 2nd week of December--no more refined sugars, limiting refined flours. So good so far. Not one cookie this season.
I have some good Bert Kaempfert over here ...
... but also some early Giorgio Moroder productions ...
... some nice beat-schlager ...
.... twist-oddities ...
... and a lot of plain horrible stuff which I put out on the street for the next victim to carry it away home.
hey joe! happy 2014! hmm ... burroughs-based band names, what have we got, soft machine and clem snide in addition to this one? surely more to be pulled from his recombinant pages.
Joe, I def. hear you about eating too many Trader Joe's cookies. Actually I made my own pistachio choc. chip cookies this year, with TJ's coconut oil, and they are damn good. Screw butter and its stupid lactose. I hereby declare total allegiance to coconut oil for all eternity! Or as long as ovens exist to bake with.
Ike, I've made cookies with peanut oil, and that also makes a good butter substitute. I hung up my baking apron a couple of years ago, actually, when my wife and daughter both got into it.
@duke: It's a winter weather LP for me. I used to like to turn all the lights off in the middle of the night, just the Xmas lights on, and listen to it twice in a row.
Andrew, IMO coconut oil worked better than most other oils for cookies, maybe because it's semi-solid (until it gets warm). W/other cooking oils, for every cup of butter, replace with 3/4 cup of oil, and maybe consider more egg.
It's gettin' late in the heathen. Just tuned in while the right Rev. Cleophus and his progengy on the hot hammond. Good music to watch the snow fall by.
Thanks Joe. Now I have to go and study the history of Samson and Delilah.
Last night Mary Wing said on her show that you just had a three hour marathon of (I forgot which cover) I couldn't find it in the archives. Is this nasty rumor true? And if so will it be available for ridicule in the archives soon?
Morning, Joe! Just tuning in, but thanks for playing that Fetchin' Bones earlier; great memories of seeing them in those early days in NC. I think the actual LP probably came out around '85 or '86… Enjoying the gospel now.
@draw me: Yeah, I did 3 hours of "Satisfaction." It's archived here: wfmu.org... I may do something similar again in the new year. Just not "Bohemian Rhapsody"! Been done, you see!
Great show today Joe!;And a happy New Years to ya buddy [And your family]. Thanx for Sharing the great Gospel set, also...Kevin is one heck of a nice guy;You come in at a mere 2'nd among good guys among the FMU's...lol.
This Al Green live performance is actually viewable on YouTube. IMHO, I think it's great -- really passionate and the band delivers it live playing off of Green's cues.
I feel a need to speak out for the minority of listeners who really dug Ken's Boho Rap. I notice a whole lot of the comment-board regulars toughed it out for the whole three hours, by the way.
And, if we're talking about touchstone Santana albums, "Abraxis" is one of a very small number of records that genuinely changed my life.
@PKNY: Yeah, it's Ike and Tina, Al, Sly and the Family Stone, and a couple of others. Such a shame they couldn't just hook up a mic, for Chrissakes! @Parq: I really dug what Ken did, too!
wow, what a gentle sweet song by AMOR DE DIAS. versus the awful weather to come. thanks for playing it, and for playing a bunch of great songs. happy new year joe!
Hi Joe, great show! Re. Omega Group - my copy of With the Sun In My Eyes has title as "ten thousand paces", which makes perfect sense! And I love the song :-)
