But I'm a Yank and always thought of The Jam as being part punk or imbued with the punk spirit....or something. It's different perception over here I think. Although once I heard The Style Council I was like...er...I dunno what he was doing! But I caught on later.

I mean, I'm talking back in 1984 hearing TSC on radio here WLIR, etc. I was too young to realize how radical it was compared to The Jam since I barely knew the latter then. I did sort of. To me it was all of a piece...M+M...Echo...The Smiths. whatever, at that point.

I hate the Jam. Like the Kinks, the Who, the Smiths, Led Zeppelin & Black Sabbath. All British bands. But the Jam’s sound and their fans are some of the most irritating anglophiles I have ever met. Worse than Smiths fans & I like the Smiths!
