  9:43pm Carmichael:

@Simon: red, yellow and orange. I have lobbied endlessly for pineapple, to no avail.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:44pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

- um - I think it's a Chevelle? - white w/ two Jackson humbuckers. I work @ a thriftstore so I've picked up leettle practice amps - already too much for the living space of someone forgot to get a career like meself - got a Fender I'm using - also a couple little P.A. monitors I plug it into - esp. for a Bass someone else gave me! - a nice cheapo SX...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:45pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Pineapple aids digestion. Pineapple is fine - c'mon. I don't eat chikkens but sounds nice...
  9:46pm mike east:

Sounds like you're on the way to starting a band! Rock out, man!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:46pm pacific standard simon:

Hah! I've got a dinky little practice amp that I picked up at a thrift. Plug in my ukulele, turn it up, and all the chords sound the same.

reading this but playing tons of Ash Ra Temple tonight on the alt. mind LDude stream of my own head..... Julian Cope's suggestions. Also was playing the Thel. Monk box today and other things....such a boring day otherwise besides listening to these jerky nabes move out for six hours
  9:58pm LovecraftDude888:

Get one of dem Fender Mustang amps it's sick RR Or a Vox might do ye also one of the Vox minis
  9:59pm LovecraftDude888:

cannot believe was still snowing later today. A bummer
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:00pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

- can't fault yer tastes on bit there, my man
- but check this show LDude888 - Faye is great & that stuff'll still be there...gawd knows when/if I could afford an amp that could - say - compete w/ a drumset & all that - tubes &tc. ...should get a tubescreamer I suppose...Mr. Merritt - ?!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:01pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

- oh B&S...
  10:01pm LovecraftDude888:

wait a sec. RR someone gave you a Charvel guitar? Those are good guitars
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:01pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

- I know! Crazy!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:03pm pacific standard simon:

I tried to play Belle & Sebastian for my wife and now she thinks I'm twee.
  10:03pm LovecraftDude888:

that's awesome. I was making progress with the Fender Mustang and pushing it through the Tubescreamer, a great combo. or even a Vox mini with a TS anything like that. I'm gonna get a Vox Amplug too soon..for the headphones mainly on that score. though you can get a tiny Vox cab. for the thing too
  10:04pm LovecraftDude888:

I meant..via my basic Squier Strat nothing fancy
  10:04pm LovecraftDude888:

now i'm on the stream. C'mon Belle and S. are good...if not over the top rock and roll etc.
  10:05pm LovecraftDude888:

I think Charvel and Hamers were always mainly for metal or shredding guitarists for the most part or hard rock etc.
  10:06pm LovecraftDude888:

Even a good Boss Blues driver or OD or whatever should work if you just want blues to metal to rock sounds
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:06pm pacific standard simon:

Nothing so far from Faye on the rock 'n' roll comparative axe front...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:06pm Glenn L:

The Limes!
  10:07pm LovecraftDude888:

although these modeling amps have all that stuff
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:08pm pacific standard simon:

I think I hear a cigarbox guitar in this Limes track.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:09pm Cory:

LovecraftDude, that's why I love my Line6 to death
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:10pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

- yeah - it's not 'funky' (good way) like a Fender - doesn't have the goofball pointy Metal headstock - think it's a basic one but still - long shreddy fretboard; I'll have to get to know it...Great tone on the Limes : ) ...
  10:11pm LovecraftDude888:

oh yeah, the Line6s also come recommended--but some on here didn't like them, it depends what sounds you like and the Vox is good for various things..the Fenders another...and even Peavey makes some good modelers. Gotta try 'em out. That Vox min ain't bad! and it's under like $100 easily
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:11pm pacific standard simon:

Ah, Faces -- is that Ronnie Lane singing lead?
  10:11pm LovecraftDude888:

I saw yamaha is making those table top amps too, but not sure how good they are
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:12pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

- Ronnie Wood delivering on acoustic - ??
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:13pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...haha - Faye's Todd - that's funny...
Swag For Life Member 10:13pm 12539:

  10:14pm LovecraftDude888:

Even Vox or Epi they keep putting out small tube reissue small amps but they are us. one channel, no FX, stripped-down, although you can push them with other things and that might be good I dunno. But they are one channelers and limited. But tube
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:15pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...oh !! - I have this old little Supro tube amp !! I'm scared to use it though in case I f-up the tubes - what would I do then...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:17pm pacific standard simon:

World community radio.
  10:18pm LovecraftDude888:

oh Supro I could swear I had one of those as a kid...for a bit. Anyway, if tube blows up..get new tube put in! Easy enough. hopefully. I just read Bugera even has a $100 tube small amp out that is getting raves. Crazee
  10:18pm Carmichael:

Sorry Faye, but I always catch you at 6 pm here in Droughtland. Nothing else to do but char meat and rock.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:21pm pacific standard simon:

I've been pricing young apricot trees all day, and looking for growing tips. Three years until I can slide apricot halves onto skewers next to juicy hunks of pork and BBQ away.
  10:24pm LovecraftDude888:

doubtful you'd fry the Supro unless you run massive FX into it and play at max volume all the time, unlikely. But tubes are reasonably cheap still, I think. If you blow other things the preamp or power stage...good luck. but you can get some new tube amps cheap like the Bugera if you want. Whether they're as good...I dunno
Avatar 10:25pm Holly in NC:

Ah, such a pretty, understated album (Boomgates), glad I tuned in to catch - but sorry I missed Faces.

Hi Faye! Hi friends!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:26pm pacific standard simon:

Howdy, Holly!
  10:26pm LovecraftDude888:

Boss is even making those Fender Amp Bassman or 57 pedals....I hear those are quite good. or most people like 'em. Prob worth a try
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:27pm Faye:

hi Holly!
  10:27pm Carmichael:

Simon, I halve freestone peaches and rub the faces into brown sugar, then lay them on the grill. So simple and yummy.
  10:27pm LovecraftDude888:

ha, just get the 3 ch. Bugera $600 head and the neighbors will love you when the windows explode out and the foundations crumble!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:29pm pacific standard simon:

Sounds good, Carmichael. I'd like to try substituting small sweet onions for the pits.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:29pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...I avoided the cops tonight LDude - let's leave it @ that...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:31pm pacific standard simon:

Aimee Mann plays around with Bond movie excess...
  10:32pm LovecraftDude888:

Right RR. Even a small tube amp can get plenty loud! people don't realize. Anyway, it's been snowy and darkish and cold all day here on LI, 20s or so. now maybe 18. Oof. This Aimee is funny as heck.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:35pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

that shit used to kill me..."and her little Dog, Snuggles"
  10:35pm irina:

  10:36pm LovecraftDude888:

Mike E...indeed A Deluxe Reverb would work. But I guess talking smaller practice or just modeling amps. But hell yeah if you can swing a real Fender blues or REverb etc. go for it!
Avatar 10:36pm ranjit:

Decades ago I heard a piece on one of KPFA's weird late night programs - mayyybe it was by negativland - where they'd taken just the intros from some talk show host saying hello to callers from different cities. Baltimore, hello. St Louis, hello. Indianapolis, hello. And on and on. Does that sound familiar to any of you?

Avatar 10:45pm Holly in NC:

@RRN63 - outside heading to low 20s later this evening, I'll wake myself up 3am-ish to run space heaters on kitchen & bathroom pipes for an hour or so. and again 7ish. Vigilance is my middle name! No pipes freezing on my watch!

Oh, Carmichael, if only...
  10:46pm LovecraftDude888:

The heat in my new pad is great, works fine, so no complaints there, and with my own thermo. thank God. I hate apts. with no adjustable heat! The worst. I was in a place in Queens for a bit that had no thermo. and a few times no bleeding in line so the radiators were waking us up smelling weird and making clanging noises. at 3 am. had to call the super and all that shite. Was hell.

  11:15pm LovecraftDude888:

I had no idea that was even an actual Fleming novel..i thought they made that one up whole cloth but guess not. but almost.
  11:16pm JakeGould:

Nice use of gramma.
Avatar 11:16pm Holly in NC:

Barbara Manning is so wonderful, and a lovely person. Does anyone know what she's up to these days?
Avatar 11:17pm northguineahills:

Wow, haven't heard this Susumu Yokota in ages...
  11:18pm LovecraftDude888:

actually sounds like the film was an improvement somehow....as silly as it was. Gotta change into my Dockers....just kidding
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:18pm pacific standard simon:

I read them all in chronological order a couple years ago, as a kind of weird exercise. Fleming wrote that one in feminine first person -- also as a kind of weird exercise.
  11:21pm LovecraftDude888:

I read a lot of those novels as a kid years ago ....but not all of them. Moonraker was totally different from that wretched movie ....but prob. a good thing. haven't read them in years.
Swag For Life Member 11:21pm 12539:

@Holly, she has an active Facebook page
with link to numerous formerly unreleased songs now available on bandcamp
  11:22pm LovecraftDude888:

i recall my Uncle had the Thunderball board game that was cool
  11:23pm LovecraftDude888:

now worth $100 supposedly
Avatar 11:23pm northguineahills:

Ok, now you're just messing w/ me, I was listening to Bewitched before I tuned in.....
  11:23pm KP:

The Craig version of Casino Royale is pretty great but only because Eva Green is so happening. She can act, a rarity in that series,
  11:24pm LovecraftDude888:

yeah I kinda dug Casino Royale it wasn't bad.
  11:25pm LovecraftDude888:

man, what is that movie with Dan Craig as some super scary gangster? That is some scary shit
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:26pm pacific standard simon:

Whatever their faults (and there are many), the books are always better than the movies. Unless you count the Casino Royale from '67, with David Niven, Peter Sellers and Woody Allen.
  11:27pm KP:

I read a few of the novels fairly recently and have to say I liked them all, even ones Fleming didn't write. They are tense and moody, unlike most of the films,
Avatar 11:27pm Holly in NC:

@12539 - Oh my gosh - many thanks!
  11:28pm LovecraftDude888:

Yeah the Fleming originals are the best. And some of those neo ones by who was it....Gardner. I'm thinking of some other film..Layer Cake...or some other one with Dan Craig as some scary gangster guy
  11:29pm mike east:

Love that casino royale! It's a real romp. I remember that DVD having pretty good special features. Like an even older casino royale from maybe the 40's or 50's
Avatar 11:29pm Andy says hi:

There's the missing link.
  11:29pm mike east:

Referring to the '67 version
  11:30pm nate:

barbara manning is playing a show in cambridge with bevis frond and dump
  11:30pm LovecraftDude888:

Gangster #1 I think I'm thinking of ...not with Dan Craig but pretty sick with Malc. McDowell
  11:30pm nate:

cambridge ma, not england
Avatar 11:32pm Holly in NC:

@nate --!!!!

Bevis!!!! (and Dump!)
  11:32pm Carmichael:

Aaahh, you cute kids with your memories of the '60s and '70s.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:32pm pacific standard simon:

Yeah, Mike -- they included an old British TV version from the mid-50s.

Oh man, Chopin? That's what I like about FMU -- no danger of hearing anything I already heard three times at work today.
  11:34pm Carmichael:

I was born in the mid 50s. You're not so old.
  11:35pm KP:

What we need is a Kickstarter for a Man From Uncle movie,
Avatar 11:35pm ranjit:

Hey! Play "Royals" just to prove simon wrong!
  11:35pm mike east:

Right, pss! With Peter Lorre I believe
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:35pm pacific standard simon:

As you can see from my picture, me too.
  11:36pm LovecraftDude888:

remember that Invisible Man show with David McCallum? That was pretty good at the time...or so i thought
Avatar 11:37pm listener mark:

Thank you Faye!! +*+*+*
  11:37pm KP:

Does Ashkenazy still play
Avatar 11:38pm Andy says hi:

Might just work
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:39pm pacific standard simon:

The only reason I remember that McCallum show is that they were all over the Cal Arts campus filming it at night.
  11:39pm LovecraftDude888:

When they do a UFO reboot movie of that show we'll be in trouble
  11:39pm LovecraftDude888:

oh no!!! haha! Simon...that's a rip!! did anybody realize it or it wasn't a big deal
  11:40pm KP:

Faye's shows are novels.
  11:40pm LovecraftDude888:

my friend says he met McCallum in NYC once at some biz he was working at or something, said he was super nice
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:41pm pacific standard simon:

Guess it's too damn late for a Night Stalker/Christmas Story cross-over with Darrin McGavin.
  11:41pm mike east:

Great music to crash to. Night all!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:41pm pacific standard simon:

It was no big deal -- Cal Arts was funded by Disney.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:41pm Faye:

sleep time everyone!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:41pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

- night MikeE
  11:41pm LovecraftDude888:

actually a good Night Stalker remake might be a decent idea but the orig. is the best I don't really wanna see it remade
  11:42pm LovecraftDude888:

oh I see yeah right...that makes sense
  11:43pm LovecraftDude888:

Outer Limits still my fave show of all time, after maybe Dark Shadows but barely
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:43pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Eleven months until Christmas!
  11:44pm LovecraftDude888:

God, I recall sitting there watching the Six Million Dollar Man pilot first-run and falling asleep cause it was late and so long!! haha. Nothing like staying up and then falling asleep for the damned thing
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:44pm pacific standard simon:

But David McCallum is the reason I started watching NCIS. OLD David McCallum. Very cool.
  11:44pm KP:

I know someone who knows mccallum and says same thing
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:45pm pacific standard simon:

Did you ever hear the record he did of "The Rats In The Walls"?
  11:45pm LovecraftDude888:

oh yeah he's in that I saw him in a few of those. KP..wow the McCallum connections! We gotta get him on FMU for sure
Avatar 11:45pm ranjit:

time to make popcorn!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:45pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

- OuterLimits when I was very young. I wonder if I'd still think it creepy - & good writing. Had the 45 of Dark Shadows theme in my family - a big hit...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:46pm pacific standard simon:

I hope Faye isn't playing The Yawns out of boredom with the chat board.
  11:46pm LovecraftDude888:

Outer Limits still one of my fave shows never get tired of it minus a few bum episodes but so few. oh yeah!! hells yes I heard those HPL adaptations of McCallum's from the 70s or 80s yeah!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:47pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

- I got a tape of *someone* doing 'Rats' - but not him.
  11:47pm KP:

Outer Limits scared the hell out of me. I went to school once not hsving slept a wink. I thought I was tough too
  11:47pm LovecraftDude888:

we had those at my stupid old library job....the cassette versions of those Caedmon Co. released 'em. Ha McCallum over pronounces "Great Cuh ThooL HOO" but it's all good
  11:48pm LovecraftDude888:

Roddy McDowell also read Rats in the Walls and maybe one other HPL tale on vinyl
  11:48pm LovecraftDude888:

my fave OLimits is Don't Open Till Doomsday so totally bizarre the thing in the box
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:49pm pacific standard simon:

If you can get past the frequent appearance of "the N-word", yuk yuk.
  11:50pm KP:

What made it worse was everyone in school had seen it and they were all talking about it, im scaring myself right now. Yikes
  11:50pm LovecraftDude888:

oh yeah that was HPL for ya sadly...in that sense. A strange duck.
  11:50pm nate:

this sounds like the soundtrack to ric ocasek's dreams
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:51pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...every once in a while they have HPL on BBC4Extra stream - 7-8-ish Eastern U.S. time - '7th Dimension' - SciFi & stuff - I hope for Terry Pratchett or something good...
  11:52pm LovecraftDude888:

KP haha yeah O LImits is the bomb. Demon with a Glass Hand good ol Harlan Ellison script. RR oh ok....have to go seek that out sometime. Also big into this writer Robert Aickman..wow is he weird. Very oblique stuff. Ghost tales but more psych.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:52pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...I live in NorthNewEngland - & I tell ya HPL - the genetic culdesac is not about people of color...
