that's awesome. I was making progress with the Fender Mustang and pushing it through the Tubescreamer, a great combo. or even a Vox mini with a TS anything like that. I'm gonna get a Vox Amplug too soon..for the headphones mainly on that score. though you can get a tiny Vox cab. for the thing too
  10:04pm
LovecraftDude888:

I meant..via my basic Squier Strat nothing fancy

now i'm on the stream. C'mon Belle and S. are good...if not over the top rock and roll etc.
  10:05pm

I think Charvel and Hamers were always mainly for metal or shredding guitarists for the most part or hard rock etc.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:10pm

- yeah - it's not 'funky' (good way) like a Fender - doesn't have the goofball pointy Metal headstock - think it's a basic one but still - long shreddy fretboard; I'll have to get to know it...Great tone on the Limes : ) ...
  10:11pm
LovecraftDude888:

oh yeah, the Line6s also come recommended--but some on here didn't like them, it depends what sounds you like and the Vox is good for various things..the Fenders another...and even Peavey makes some good modelers. Gotta try 'em out. That Vox min ain't bad! and it's under like $100 easily

  10:24pm
LovecraftDude888:

doubtful you'd fry the Supro unless you run massive FX into it and play at max volume all the time, unlikely. But tubes are reasonably cheap still, I think. If you blow other things the preamp or power stage...good luck. but you can get some new tube amps cheap like the Bugera if you want. Whether they're as good...I dunno

I read them all in chronological order a couple years ago, as a kind of weird exercise. Fleming wrote that one in feminine first person -- also as a kind of weird exercise.
  11:21pm
LovecraftDude888:

I read a lot of those novels as a kid years ago ....but not all of them. Moonraker was totally different from that wretched movie ....but prob. a good thing. haven't read them in years.

The Craig version of Casino Royale is pretty great but only because Eva Green is so happening. She can act, a rarity in that series,
  11:24pm
LovecraftDude888:

yeah I kinda dug Casino Royale it wasn't bad.
  11:25pm
LovecraftDude888:

man, what is that movie with Dan Craig as some super scary gangster? That is some scary shit
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:26pm
pacific standard simon:

Whatever their faults (and there are many), the books are always better than the movies. Unless you count the Casino Royale from '67, with David Niven, Peter Sellers and Woody Allen.
  11:27pm
KP:

I read a few of the novels fairly recently and have to say I liked them all, even ones Fleming didn't write. They are tense and moody, unlike most of the films,

Yeah the Fleming originals are the best. And some of those neo ones by who was it....Gardner. I'm thinking of some other film..Layer Cake...or some other one with Dan Craig as some scary gangster guy

Love that casino royale! It's a real romp. I remember that DVD having pretty good special features. Like an even older casino royale from maybe the 40's or 50's
