Hi DJ Martha, Buck Wheat Zydaco opened the last Late Night Show; with Jimmy Fallon playing guitar and lead singer of 'On a Night Like This' with the Roots band. Cool!

National Drone Anthem!

My hair is blown back by the Blast from the Past. I like that breeze.
  12:13am
JakeGould:

Too bad Jimmy Fallon is a wretched replacement for Leno or Conan. What a drip. Happy for the Roots though.
  12:13am
Martha:

Hi all! Gotta say I am too busy watching bad true crime shows to check out JF, etc. -
  12:13am
P-90:

(In Richard Burton Voice)
Mahtha, Deah Mahtha, what fun and games have you plahnned for us this lovely mawning?
Avatar 12:15am
Whooda:

@Jake Yea, time will tell how long his'game show' shtick will last on the Tonight Show. Am looking forward to Fallon's replacement (forgot his name)
  12:16am
P-90:

Whooski: thnx for the head's-up, I'll peek at that on YouseTube
Avatar 12:17am
Whooda:

BTW I don't have cable, only rabbit ears antenna, so NBC (Albany affiliate) is my one and only choice if I want to watch TV.
  12:17am
P-90:

Seth Meyers, also from SNL
  12:18am
JakeGould:

I’m looking forward to [insert some miscellaneous white guy] being the host of yet another “Late Night” show. I mean, Letterman was funny at one point. But they all blend into the same pile of BLAH.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:18am
Ken From Hyde Park:

I was out for the evening and hoped to see some opening ceremonies reruns, but that's on from 1 to 5 AM. I'm not able to stay up all night for that.
  12:18am
Martha:

Planning? What's that all about?
  12:21am
JakeGould:

I planned for the winter. I have all the salt. Now you need salt. Bwahahahah!
  12:21am
P-90:

@jakeG: 100% agreed. Letterman was real edgy and all, like 25 years ago, but these "white guys" are really getting more-and-more watered-down
Possible exception: Criag Ferguson does his own thing, like it or not...
Avatar 12:22am
Whooda:

@Ken Just imagine the show as the Russian Circus set to classical music, that's about it...oh, yea, fireworks at the end.
  12:23am
JakeGould:

Craig Ferguson is better than some. But he always comes off like a clingy witty guy at a bar you want to tell to fuck off but you are afraid to. If that makes any sense?
Avatar 12:24am
Whooda:

You never know if Craig Ferguson is going to whip out his cheeky monkey...that makes me a little nervous too.
  12:25am
P-90:

That's why he's good at 12:30, its one hour, the amount of time you enjoy the clingy witty guy at the bar before you get fed up and want to tell him to fuck off
  12:26am
JakeGould:

In general when I watch Craig Ferguson I feel like I just came home after some “bleagh” night out & am just waiting to sleep.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:27am
Ken From Hyde Park:

When I watch late night TV, it's usually The Daily Show and/or The Colbert Report. They break things down into nice short attention span segments.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:27am
Andrew Waterloo:

hello everyone
  12:28am
P-90:

@WhooHa: do I detect a note of cheekymonkaphobia? Thought you were more secure in your monkamanhood than that
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:28am
jmd:

OK then. Can we all agree this Hexer song rocks?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:29am
Santos L Halper:

Agreed.
  12:29am
Martha:

Yes! It does! I agree -
  12:30am
JakeGould:

HEXER!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:30am
Ken From Hyde Park:

I'm going to have to go with "Hexer rules!"
Avatar 12:30am
Whooda:

This Hexter is good.
Yea, P-90 I'm an artist an have lots of cheekymonkeymen and women friends, but I just can't shake my Southern Monkey upbringing.
  12:31am
P-90:

@Hexer: thumb's up
@Martha: off to a raging start
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:33am
jmd:

Well great! I was standing here and my ass just fell off. It must be because this song just rocked it off. I'll put off reattaching it until after Martha's show because I suspect it could very likely fall off again under the same circumstances. Great show Martha!
  12:34am
Martha:

Wow, Hexer really is amazingly great -
  12:37am
Martha:

Thanks all again for checking in and for the good words -
  12:37am
tom:

once got a flyer for a christmas black metal show; th show was called merry fistmas
  12:39am
Martha:

Oi, bad -
  12:42am
P-90:

...and thanks for the Stickmen track, I had heard they were re-releasing their stuff on Homeless.
Now I'm wondering what became of Aldous(I think), their singer/guitar guy
  12:45am
Martha:

I am enjoying the re-issue more than I did the original - but I really was a horrible snob back then -
  12:50am
P-90:

Teeth if the Sea: another winner! a band I should probably be paying more attention to
  12:58am
Martha:

Yes, they reward some sustained effort, if you know what I mean, not nec. get them w/ a quick first read - and so many of those Rocket artists are fantastic -
  1:12am
P-90:

This is agreeably Glam-y. And it sounds like a real horn section wedged in there; cute, me like
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:21am
jmd:

The Sochi dancers are right in time with the music right now. Nicely done, Martha.
  1:26am
Martha:

Thanks! Has Tatu performed yet?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:29am
jmd:

No, but I think Kraftwerk is due any moment...based on the lighting and graphics.
  1:34am
?:

@"teething" heehee
  1:35am
Martha:

What can i say? - except not teething -
Avatar 1:52am
Whooda:

This show certainly is fun DJ Martha.
  1:53am
Martha:

Hey - thanks! Glad you are enjoying it!
  1:54am
Officer Pupp:

This is a great set, Martha. Every track's a winner.

True - tho' a young one, perhaps -
  2:10am
P-90:

Yep, every track a winner
  2:11am
Martha:

Hey - thanks! - I know it is a bit of a shift - tho' we are going to work in some heavier stuff later -
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:11am
Andrew Waterloo:

Not the typical way to say I love you
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:13am
Andrew Waterloo:

I wish tumblr supported bigger animated gifs
  2:13am
Martha:

You know - whatever works???
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:14am
Andrew Waterloo:

I have to agree
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:32am
jmd:

Are you just digging through the 'B' section of the new bin? Buck, Bits, Beast...Well, it's great. Rock on!
  2:33am
Martha:

Thanks! - we are going O now, then G, then maybe ?R?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:34am
jmd:

Yes. The Ovo is great! Thanks!
  2:35am
Martha:

Only scratched the surface of that record - definitely will be playing more in the future -
  2:35am
P-90:

@jmd: Didn't notice that "B" thing until you pointed it out
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:39am
jmd:

New to me, too, Martha
@P-90: I only noticed because I was making a list of great stuff to get and it's organized alphabetically. Alphabets and organization rock!
  2:40am
Martha:

So do spreadsheets -
  2:44am
Martha:

But I gather that was the point you were making!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:47am
jmd:

@Martha: I could but instead I just listen to your show which automatically creates a more tasteful, professionally considered, and listen-worthy list than any Xl document ever could.
  2:57am
Martha:

Even better than a spreadsheet - in fact I think much better -
  2:57am
Martha:

Thanks all and have a great w/end -
  2:58am
P-90:

@ Copper Pot Photography: really BIG thumb's up, if you can believe that
  3:01am
P-90:

@Ms. Martha: This was yet another home run, i"ll be back to this show on the archives for sure. Thanks for a great three hour soundtrack for my late Fri night!
