Listener comments!

9:05am David in ATL from NJ:

Get out of the way, hank Levine!
  9:12am josephteilhard:

That Cymbals song is so obscure.... omg. can't find anything about it online. So good.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:15am Ken From Hyde Park:

The James Brown instrumental seems to be the bed music from a former WFMU DJ (Hatch, maybe?).
Avatar 9:16am glenn:

all right! ira the k is the man. p.s. - the mets suck.
  9:16am Santos L Halper:

Good morning Bob and Ira. Happy Marathon! And Savannah is same time as y'all BTW.
  9:22am Santos L Halper:

Wonder if that Sneakers is different than the comp I got many years ago; Ryko maybe?
  9:33am Santos L Halper:

It's 9:32 on my phone here in the SAV
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:39am Doug Schulkind:

Speaking of radio heroes, check out the back panel of my "WFMU Airwave Idol" trading card from the 2004 Marathon: blogfiles.wfmu.org...
Avatar 9:48am glenn:

speaking of radio heroes. ^^^^^
  9:50am Santos L Halper:

Time does move a little differently down here, I'll allow. That's why we love it! And Ira, I won't even bring up how you didn't play my song the other night cuz it was such a great set ; ). Next year...
  9:57am 293:

Bob,

What sparked your interested in 'only' tracks (only vocals, only horns...)?
  10:09am Alfred Ron Richards:

Saw the Endless Boogie/Steven Malkmus show in DC last night...outstanding choogling from the former, who only played 2.5 songs, each of Yes length, and a world-class rendition of The Mac's "Oh Well" from Malker.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:12am SeanG:

Hey Doug, McCabe and Mrs. Miller is my favorite movie too! EPIC
  10:13am Chris H:

Bob B, the only reason to get up on Saturday mornings.
  10:21am Alfred Ron Richards:

McCabe: In my Top 5 Altman films...wonderful deconstruction of practically every aspect of the tradition western, if I can say that w/o being a pretentious b-hole.
  10:22am HarktheUmpire:

Beertalk on a Saturday morning! I'm in!
Ira, what's your favourite beer when touring Europe?
I saw you guys play in Prague (loved every minute of it!) and, though I don't mean to slag off American beer, I'm sure you'll admit the Czech have a pretty good thing going. or? Not as good a thing as the Belgians do though.
  10:28am Toddophonic:

Bob claims not to know me. The flip of "Break Away" is "Celebrate The News".
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:33am Caryn:

McCabe and Mrs. Miller is fantastic, but my favourite film is another western: Once Upon a Time in the West. The reimagining of wild west myths and history away from white men and towards women and minorities. Great use of music, too.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:34am Doug Schulkind:

@SeanG
Yes! Altman's use of music is uniformly brilliant. Leonard Cohen never sounded so good as in that soundtrack.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:42am Ken From Hyde Park:

Any listeners/pledgers from Bosnia and Herzegovina today? Happy Independence Day to those residents.
  10:44am tedbrinkley:

not from there, just BOBsnia and pungent HerbZegovinia....!
  10:47am Jay:

Fave Stones LP: Satanic Majesties
  10:47am Chris H:

Hard to argue with Aftermath, but I've always dug Between the Buttons.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:48am Uncle Michael:

This is my favorite Beefheart album too. Stones...probably Exile.
  10:48am Dano59:

My sincere but controversial favorite: Metamorphosis
Avatar 10:49am glenn:

veronika voss. i've probably seen it 15 times.
  10:50am Dano59:

Bob is my favorite NRBQ fan / scholar
  10:51am Chris H:

Mine too
  10:52am JSG:

Judging by this, I'd say the answer to Ira's Association Q is no.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:52am Caryn:

Fave Stones: Exile On Main St., followed closely by Beggars Banquet. Let It Bleed and Satanic Majesties fighting it out for third (order changes with my mood).
Avatar 10:53am glenn:

exile, then some girls.
Avatar 10:56am glenn:

this isn't good. www.thestar.com...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:57am Santos L Halper:

Great stuff as always Bob. You and Ira make a good team; looking forward to DMandl next week.
Avatar 10:57am SmokinJ:

Bob! You've earned my respect yet again! ;)
Avatar 10:57am Nanker de Tucson:

Favourite Stones LP -- Aftermath [ UK release, not the USA London label one ]
Avatar 10:58am Nanker de Tucson:

Excellent show again today, BobB !
  10:59am Chris H:

Ira's right, its hard to get more exotic than Passaic.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:59am Ken From Hyde Park:

WooF & MU are twitching their tails...congrats on reaching today's goal! Thanks, pledgers!
