Top Gear is the most popular tv show in the UK and the best and most popular car show ever.

Yes, they get into trouble from time to time. Richard Hammond said something bad about Mexican food...which I guess in the UK, looks like "fried sick."

They're diving three beat up old lorries across Burma to build a bridge...over the River Kwai. What happens is amazing...as usual.

@Doug - How are Luna's paws? And did you see the article about UK family who had house fumigated due to burst spider bags from - you guessed it - a bunch of bananas? Reason 9999,0000 to dislike bananas.

@glenn - Unless they're frozen & covered in dark chocolate, I REALLY dislike bananas. Taste, texture, and spider receptacle properties - ugh.

@still b/p - A quite good band named Spider Bags already exists - not burst though!

@Doug - oh, Luna. Epsom salts are good for a multitude of things, hope they work. Sounds like you haven't had a chance to try musher salve yet?

BTW, today is only 2nd warm day in Durham and already spiders are emerging all over my house. Including one IN my WFMU messenger bag. DAMN IT.

The common Cavendish (and dwarf Cavendish clones) bananas that are common today, have a meh flavor. The Gros Michel, which was slowly wiped out in the Western Hemisphere, tastes much better. You could find the Gros Michel in supermarkets in some places until the early 80s, but I only really remember them in Japan (They survived well in SE Asia).

My first ever shift on WFMU was on early Monday morning, 3-6:30am. The show on before the show on before mine was this synth-heavy show called "Synthetic Pleasure" hosted by a guy named Richard Ginsburg. The night I came down to do one of my earliest shows, I got to the station extra early and Richard was still on the air. (He went off at midnight.) His guest that night was Suzanne Ciani.

@lovecraftdude - that was one of the best urban legends. Didn't stop me from chewing grape bubble yum, mainly to goof on my greatly beloved Gram, who a) did not care at all for the scent of artifical grapes, and b) bequeathed me her irrational fear of spiders and a superb sense of humor.

Doug Schulkind:

Speaking of Pop Rocks, remember that short-lived TV show Cop Rock? It was sort of a Hill Street Blues, but the characters would occasionally break out into song. Well one of the stars of the ensemble cast had previously been an out of work actor who made money by riding a bicycle fitted with ice chests filled with beer around to all the ball fields in Central Park. He would sell beers to the softball teams. I played for years on a team in the publishers league, and this guy (David Gianopoulos), sort of became our team's personal beer man. Ah, good times!
