I am going to read your http://blog.wfmu.org/freeform/2014/02/uncle-bernie-novelty-mart-and-frank-zappa-in-the-comics.html . I have been listening to '70-'76 Zappa last couple of weeks. With George Duke, Napoleon Murphy Brock, Ruth Underwood, Jean Luc Ponty etc. Much is on youtube that I never heard before. Do you like that stuff? BR

Listener James's mention of 100% sparked a thought that I should check to see if anyone new had pledged to Give the Drummer Some since this past Tuesday's show. When last I looked, the show was sitting at a respectable 84% of a very ambitious goal. Well... INDEED MORE HAVE PLEDGED. TWO MORE PLEDGES, ONE FROM SARAH IN BURNABY (CANADA) AND ANOTHER FROM JOE IN BEVERLY HILLS HAVE PUT give the drummer some OVER 100%. AMAZING! ASTONISHING! EXHILARATING! I really am at a loss to express my gratitude. Thank you so so much.

Tom Scharpling earned his popularity one listener at time. He absolutely wrote the book on how to reach through the medium to connect with listeners and invite them to participate in a collaborative experience. He has been an absolute inspiration to me as I try to grow and evolve Give the Drummer Radio. I don't have .05% of the charisma and guts that he has, but even just a little effort in this direction can transform the experience—on both sides of the radio show experience. Tom deserves every ounce of success he's got coming to him.

Stay tuned for Uncle Michael and Hinky DInky Time, up next here on the stream. Playlist page here: wfmu.org... @Van Steinski's show never had the following Tom S. has created. It was only on for a year here and there and I'm not sure it was ever on during a marathon until I re-ran the show on the stream last year.

I don't think the JM in the AM listenership has declined, but it has gotten older and has not expanded with the Internet the way the freeform side of WFMU has. @Santos L. Halper It was great fun watching those old WFMU marathon videos. I'd never seen them before. I watched the with my 13-year-old daughter whose jaw was on the floor the whole time. She recognized me before I did. THAT'S YOU WITH THE MARACAS, she screamed! Yes, Steinski spent at least 20 hours producing each 1-hour show. I heard Clay Pigeon say the same thing about his program during the marathon! The shows with man-on-the-street interview segments take a huge amount of production work. Totally awesome.
