I'm really glad I got to see the reformed Stooges at Pine Knob outside of Detroit. It was one of their first US reunion shows. The show originally was going to happen on the day of the huge Eastern Seaboard blackout. The joke was that the Stooges blew the fuse during their sound check.

Thanks Fabio for starting your show with tribute to Scott Asheton. I weaned my rock and roll memories seeing the Stooges and MC5 play in Detroit in the late 60's and early 70's. Scott was the driving rhythmic force behind the Stooges relentless pre-punk sounds, seeing them was like stepping into a space ship and landing on planet Punk when everyone else was doing the Hippy Dance Love In, totally unreal and unrelenting, something visceral which hit you right down to the center of your bones, bodily fluids and soul, leaving you a totally person then the one who entered the concert hall!!!!

Coelacanth, I think the Stooges were innovators in term of stripping rock and roll down to it's essentials, then adding a raw emotional energy that others were not yet showing on stage, Iggy wriggling on the floor, tearing off his cloths, cutting himself, jumping into the audience, getting into fights, climbing into the balcony, all the while the band played on,... so in that sense, they were a little ahead of their time.

Fred Phelps tribute you say?!? Lots of Queen, of course, Village People, Communards, Bronski Beat, The Homosexuals, Homo Picnic (if just for the names), and, to include female groups, Tribe 8, Bikini Kill, Seven Year Bitch... though for some reason Phelps had it in for "fags," don't recall seeing lotsa "God Hates Dykes" signs, though I could be wrong, I'm sure he hated them all.
