Perhaps Spazz incorrectly IDed the original “I Wanna Be Free” pilot = Episode 10 version as “the TV version” because the more polished “The Monkees” album version of Episode 6 didn't air on TV for 20 years?

Davy contemplating at the shore to “I Wanna Be Free” in Episode 6's original airing was replaced by dubbing in newer song replacement “Only Shades of Gray” for its 1967 rerun. Egregiously, (apparently) 20 years of syndication excluded the original Episode 6 airing with “I Wanna Be Free” in favor of the “Only Shades of Gray” dubbed 1967 rerun version, until Antenna TV. (Conversely, is Antenna TV ever airing the 1967 rerun version with “Only Shades of Gray”?)

YouTube has “I Wanna Be Free” clips of both “TV versions,” Episodes 6 and 10/pilot.
