Billy Jam:

This week's show opens with an (approx) ten minute interview with someone you never heard of - and while I know it is not hip-hop or even music, I still wanted to play it. It is the voice of Mr. Parker - a sweet gentle man who lived near me in Oakland CA, and whom I interviewed six years ago standing out in the street - just talking about growing up in the South and moving out West in the 50's. That was in November 2008 but then after getting back to NYC I discovered that the small flash drive-adaptable recorder that I had done the interview with him on suddenly wouldn't work anymore and all the audio files on it were inaccessible including his interview. And then Then when I returned to California a few months later I learned that Mr Parker had unexpectedly passed on. Anyways fast forward to a few weeks ago and I found that recording device in a box under my desk and for the heck of it popped into my laptop - and voila it worked again. The interview audio quality is not perfect due to the noisy wind….so I edited out some parts including me asking questions so that it is just Mr Parker talking. To me there is something about Mr. Parker's voice that I find/found very engaging. Hopefully you will too. I told his widow that I had found this recording and asked her for a photo of him - she gave me his in memoriam picture card. Rest in peace Mr. Parker. Thank-you for listening to W F M U

Billy, you ever hear of Stunt Rock? Dude put out three records called The Regret Instruction Manual Vol. 1-3. Insane, and I think you might dig it. Hard to describe, came out of the Midwest electronic/dnb thing goin on but there is a ton of hip hop influence, especially the Regret Instruction Manuals
