Tony! Tomorrow, the Mrs and I will be in your fair city! Know any good restaurants west of the river?
Avatar 12:24pm
Tony Coulter:

@ PS Simon: My faves are actually on the east side -- tho Prasad on the west side is really great. It's not Indian, despite the name, but vegetarian/health food. It's definitely a hole in the wall, though -- or more accurately, a hole in the yoga studio.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:27pm

Oh well. We're only there for one night, so we felt like we had to pick a side, and Powell's Books is calling to us.

I should add that I'm a vegetarian -- so may be a poor restaurant guide for the omnivorous.

Did I hear some Peter Bergman voice in there?
Avatar 1:15pm

Good question! It certainly is very Firesign-esque -- tho from before they existed, I think.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:19pm

Right around the same time they pulled themselves together, as I recall. And Bergman was working in free-form radio in L.A. before that.

I will forever associate this song and "Cool For Cats" with a certain attic room in a boardinghouse in Toronto.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 1:32pm
listener james from westwood:

Worked nicely into the tail end of the set, that "Logical Song" did. Logical place for it.
PSS: I associate the whole Squeeze best-of with freshman year of college; the room across from mine played it every day.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:33pm
Rich in Washington:

So many songs that got way over played on classic rock stations were actually quite good, it's just our sense of rock snobbery (and the overplay factor) that sort of makes them mundane and/or groan inducing.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:35pm
DCE:

truly agree with that, Rich...sometimes it takes a 10 year + absence for new ears to grow!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:37pm
Brian in UK:

If people want to listen to squiddly diddly FM it is up to them but it does show a lack of imagination. Most hits are hits for a good reason. Catchy toon usually.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:40pm
Rich in Washington:

I will never understand for the life of me why 'classic rock' format radio stations play so little variety with respect to bands and songs which could easily fit into the format.
Avatar 1:41pm
Tony Coulter:

They don't want to actually spend a second thinking about what to play.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:42pm
Brian in UK:

Classic rock is granite and maybe slate. Slate splits beautifully down the cleavage. No joke.
