Hi Amanda! It has been quite a while since I've tuned in live. This should be fun. Sorry about the deer; I didn't get the memo.

I thought it went without saying that deer are welcome in this cat-and-dog-friendly environment! Hi guys!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:02pm

Pleased to be in the live listening audience for a change. My standing Weds at Noon appointment is cancelled for the week.
Avatar 12:06pm

A Records remake? I thought no one caed these days. Yay to Dr. Janet!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:07pm

Well -- at least, they cared back in 1990.

I've had Starry Eyes in my head since last weeks show. Constantly! Top notch pop song!

Brian in UK:

Hello Amanda & friends. An Emmental cat. Kim Joug-un's favourite cheese.

Yo that YouTube stuff's the worst.
Avatar 12:12pm

Yo La Tengo covered the Records song on their all-request show during the marathon.

Matt F:

Carmichael- I was there! efd & Gaylord tried to get Amanda on mic to sing along, but no dice. Then it medleyed into Eddie & the Hot Rods' "Do Anything You Wanna Do".
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:19pm

Ira K was in Dr. Janet, which is probably why they knew it... but I think it isn't him singing on the track, which is why they asked Evan and Gaylord to sing it!
Avatar 12:29pm

@Matt: That's right it was EFD's show. I recall it being late in the evening, and I had imbibed a bit. I thought it was great fun, though there was some fumbling of the lyrics, by myself as well, as I was trying to sing along.
Avatar 12:31pm

Amanda, this song reminds me a bit of the Spanic Boys. If you haven't heard them, they're great jangly rockabilly, and also poppy and a bit slick.
jay c:

yeaaaa roky! heres to another radical wednesday!
Avatar 12:38pm

That yellow pills comp is one of my favorites ever... i feel like i'm always discovering a nugget I haven't heard when it comes up in the shuffle.
Avatar 12:41pm

Hey Amanda do you ever go to Simpsons club at Nitehawk?
Avatar 12:45pm

afternoon Amanda and everyone!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:45pm

Yeah! Radical Wednesdays to all! @nanantatee, no I have never been there! And like many Simpsons freaks, I'm sufficiently antisocial that I've never even heard of it. But it sounds like something I'd LOVE.

@ndbob: way to ruin the mood.
Avatar 12:53pm

sorry Jeff - just popped out on my Twitter feed
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:54pm

You can't fool me ndbob! I know that Duck Dunn passed away 2 years ago
Avatar 12:55pm

wow I see that now - wonder why it popped up on my Twitter feed 10 min ago
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:56pm

turntable 2 !!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:56pm

First time I've ever heard a Chordettes recording other than, well, you know.

Jeff Golick:

Mood...improved? Though still sad he's gone, of course.

That pose is out too, Sunny Jim. The new thing is to be right wing and misspell a lot.

Jeff Golick:

Gotta run for a quick meet-up with a trainer who operates in my work bldg. Have always been gym-/exercise-phobic, but finding that something's gotta give (e.g., the waistband of my pants). Thinking I can handle it, given the proximity. Back soon, no doubt.

You've melded Garfield with all the pizza's he's consumed.
Oh my! Cool For Cats has been an earworm since 6AM today for me!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:04pm

Can anyone else confirm or deny that there is something wrong with that turntable? (Dominick, it is actually TT1.)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:09pm

Spotify tells me that Cool For Cats also appears on a compilation of Garfield-endorsed cat songs (!!!!!!!)

Mistah Spah-kul!!!!!

I was thinking of this episode several weeks ago at a wedding where the priest sounded just like Rev. Lovejoy. Specifically the constancy thing.

Didn't one of the saints drop a "That's my name, don't wear it out."
Avatar 1:22pm

One of my favorite Agnes/Skinner interactions:

Marge: I got a report on a domestic disturbance at this address.
Skinner: Yes, indeed there is. There’s an inflatable bath pillow that Mother and I both enjoy. She claimed it was her day to use it, I maintained she was mistaken, we quarrelled. Later, as I prepared to bathe, I noticed to my horror that someone had slashed the pillow.
Marge: Uh-huh. Who called the police?
Skinner and Agnes: We both did.
Marge: Look, why don’t you two settle down? I’m sure you can get another pillow.
Skinner: Well, I could send it back to Taiwan for repair, but why should I have to? I’ve done nothing wrong. And I don’t give permission for my face to be on TV. I want it blurred!
[Skinner's face becomes pixellated]
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:22pm

Yes! Some saint with a super long, hard to pronounce name.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:23pm
Jeff Golick:

Ack missed the Simpsons Time! Ay caramba.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:23pm

Turntable 1 again. left channel is significantly louder than the right and clipping
Avatar 1:24pm

hahaha, @ngh
Avatar 1:24pm

Dominick is correct.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:28pm

Thanks everyone for listening despite these technical problems.

Don't tell me about missing New York.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:35pm

But luckily you became a rich and famous songwriter!
Avatar 1:41pm

nice version here
jay c:

cool cat has inspired me to be as cool as possible for the rest of my work day
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:49pm

YES! That is exactly what he is supposed to do.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:56pm

I hear Amanda singing along with "Angel", at least inside of my head. It is good.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:57pm
Doug Schulkind:

Y'all come on back here to the Drummer Stream at 7pm (like you would actually ever leave, heh heh) to hear the latest episode of Gary Sullivan's Bodega Pop Live. It's gonna be a doozey:

(or is that doozie?)
Avatar 1:58pm

Frickin' awesome show, Amanda, arigato!
Avatar 1:58pm

excellent show Amanda!
Avatar 1:59pm

Evie's is the original - tough record to find
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:07pm

This is a couple of weeks later, but I realize I said Pretty in Pink when I meant Sixteen Candles. It is very embarrassing to me that I made this error but at least I realized it without anyone's help
listening to a Chip Taylor interview:

. . . . telling the hard-luck story of Evie Sands' hit "Angel of the Morning" selling out its 10,000 pressing, but Cameo Parkway Record's bankruptcy ceased further production
I Can't Let Go:

A commenter disputed, yet Cameo pressed 30 records after halting "Angel." Evie's "Rodeo" from Record Day 2017 might be worth considering for FMU debut

Matt from Springfield already posted Evie Sand's hard luck "Angel of the Morning" story , 8-1-2012
