Good Wednesday, all! Are those both shiba inus?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:59am
pacific standard simon:

Waaah! Couldn't hang out during last week's "Music To Nazz By" fill-in! Listened to the archive -- it was hilarious! (I was on an Amtrak train with no wi-fi.)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:02pm
Amanda:

Oh, I know how heartbreaking those trains can be!!! Glad you liked the archive -- I was having a nutty time.

And yes! They are BOTH Shibas!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:02pm
listener james from westwood:

OMG, that was indeed an epic 3 hours. Perfectly matched Spazz's manic ethic. I give it 5 out of 5 Dr. Zaiuses.

A dog's approach to fluffing up cushiony bedding.

Oh Em Gee do I need this radio show right now.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:06pm
Amanda:

"I fluffed your pillow for you -- do you like it?"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:07pm
listener james from westwood:

(looks all over room at pillow chunks) "It's ... good?"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:07pm
pacific standard simon:

Doug? Any chance of emails before mothership fill-ins by Drummer DJs?
Avatar 12:12pm

Hey Amanda, gang! God Save The Kinks!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:13pm
pacific standard simon:

Back when Adam Koford was doing cheap LOL Cats comic commissions, I bought one that showed one of his hobo kitties in a barn full of hay with a horse -- the caption was, "I made me a bed, but you eated it!"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:18pm
Stevel:

Eeeeeee! B-52s!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:19pm
Stevel:

Pretty sure this song is what made my sister decide to give me the album. She didn't dig the screechy parts. I did.
Avatar 12:21pm
V Priceless:

I'm pretty sure this was left off their greatest hits comp from a while back, which is puzzling. It was pretty popular back in the day.

Andy S.:

In 2001, Renaissance Books published JUST WALKIN' IN THE RAIN: THE TRUE STORY OF THE PRISONAIRES, THE CONVICT PIONEERS OF R & B AND ROCK & ROLL by Jay Warner. I bought it used last year but haven't read it yet.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:22pm
Amanda:

Funny, Andy, I just was reminded of that book when I was googling the Prisonaires to determine the exact first release date of that song :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:22pm
Doug Schulkind:

@pacific standard simon
I'd be happy to send out an email blast announcing GTDR fill-ins on the Mothership. Often, I only hear about them at the last minute.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:23pm
Amanda:

Stevel, sounds like you really benefitted from your sister's narrow-mindedness?
  12:23pm
Andy S.:

Fred Schneider has got to be the most successful singer in r&r history who absolutely could not sing a damn note. He's the reason why I've almost never listened to the B-52s' records. Makes Joey Ramone sound like Solomon Burke by comparison.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:26pm
pacific standard simon:

@Doug - Thanks, understood. Don't wanna make trouble.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:26pm
Matt F:

Weirdly, something in Fred Schneider's voice reminds me of country superstar Hank Thompson. Not chops-wise, but similar voiceprint (and lisp).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:26pm
Stevel:

Also good slower, Jolene by Dolly Parton. (Amazing, really.)

Wait, I think Amanda is answering my question right now!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:28pm

Back in the late 70s and early 80s I would listen to ANYTHING, which was good, as there was all kinds of weird stuff floating around. It was all so fresh, jarring and exciting.
