Good morning, Doug and all!! I'd like to think the little boy up front in that pic grew up to be Steve Martin.

And the gal in the back with the saxophone? She grew up to be Give the Drummer Some!

Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:17am Alex In Illinois:

I don't see an Ukulele anywhere. All of the 4-stringed instruments appear to be banjos except for the "mandobass". It looks like there are three parlor guitars in back.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:18am Doug Schulkind:

Maybe the worst fake old lady voice in the history of fake old lady voices on record!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:19am Doug Schulkind:

Pocomania leaned to the African side of things, its Pentecostal-style services owing an obvious debt to African possession ceremonies. Worshippers would internal linkdance counter-clockwise to powerful internal linkdrums while breathing very deeply; this "trumping" would sometimes brings on possession—the "little madness" that lent the church its name.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 9:19am Brian in UK:

This was a big hit for the Dubliners in the Sixties as 'Seven Drunken Nights'. Ronnie Drew had a wonderful powerful voice.

Earl Johnson was a Gid Tanner groupie!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:23am Alex In Illinois:

Another funny thing about the "Three nights" song is that different people give it different titles. The Gid Tanner recording called is "Three Nights Drunk". I think I even saw it listed as "Four Nights Drunk" somewhere.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 9:26am Brian in UK:

Best espresso I ever had was on the train from Paris to Florence. The stirrer basically could stand up in the stuff. I can still taste it and that was in 1986.

One of the best espressos I ever had was at a small riverside cafe ... in Beloit, Wisconsin! WTF? It took forever, and it was worth waiting for. (That cafe has since gone out of business, sadly.)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:21am Doug Schulkind:

On that same train ride, I shared a couchette with four other people. (It had two sets of triple-tier bunk beds.) In the cabin where my friend Dan and three members of another family, two elderly parents and their grown son. The elderly father was tubercular and for the entire ride was coughing up phlegm into a plastic baggie.

I drank a lot of espresso that trip.

Love Ken McIntyre
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:41am Doug Schulkind:

Everyone who knew him adored him, Cecile. I once got a call during a show from one of his students.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:46am Alex In Illinois:

Was this on your James James James world premium a few years ago?

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:47am Helen of Schenectady:

Is this JB cover downloadable somewhere?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:47am Doug Schulkind:

@Alex in Illinois
NO! My dear friend (and a friend to all who love music) Adam Lore tipped me off to a current eBay listening of this record. The listing provided full-song downloads, so I grabbed them!!!!!!!
  11:48am Andujar:

love the JB cover!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:49am Doug Schulkind:

@Helen of Schenectady
I found it on an eBay listing. Not sure if it is still posted. Go search. If you can find it, email me and I will send you both Fadaul tracks!

This offer goes for everyone!

By this time next week I will have seen William Parker & co. Nyah.

This is a rarity.
Avatar 11:59am Carmichael:

Hey, the stream jumped, Doug!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:59am Doug Schulkind:

You absolutely MUST go to Youtube after the show and watch the video of this performance. Billy is for some inexplicable reason wearing an absurdly large cowboy hat.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:59am Uncle Michael:

Thanks for the show, Doug. See you all for cake.
Avatar 🥁 12:00pm duke:

What happened to Billy?
Avatar 12:00pm Carmichael:

I'm suddenly getting some calypso song.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:00pm Uncle Michael:
