Sock it to me, Jesse!

Jesse! Good to have you in my house, too!!
Avatar 7:04pm
Jesse K:

thanks Doug!
Avatar 7:05pm
Jesse K:

hey hey James, glad you could have me over!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:07pm
listener james from westwood:

If you're into Brussels sprouts, there's still a bunch of roasted mini-cabbages left. Also gorgonzola/dried-tomato ravioli. Go nuts!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:08pm
listener james from westwood:

A track with typing and a track with blips and bleeps is basically the way to lure me into whatever trap you might have. Solid!
Avatar 7:11pm
Jesse K:

my trap tonight was basically all about getting your roasted sprouts so some of my incentive is gone already

listener james from westwood:

Sly devil, you. Better hide the asparagus while I'm up!
Avatar 7:24pm
northguineahills:

Can't find any white asparagus. It doesn't help that my local farmer's market doesn't open until May 25th. I really don't want to go to Union Sq. I try to avoid Manhattan.
Avatar 7:31pm
Jesse K:

I can't find any banding on this lp so we might hear the second song if I can't stop it in time. I do love me some fuji though so we'll see
Avatar 7:38pm
Jesse K:

despite how sparse it sounds that the backing band has 20 people in it..
Avatar 7:39pm
northguineahills:

Is this Nigerian? (guessing by the Eaglets)
Avatar 7:41pm
Jesse K:

yeah, Nigerian. maybe we're just going to hear the albumside. It wasn't really meant for airplay I'm guessing, or I'm supposed to mix out...

Howdy Kamoutskies!
Avatar 8:05pm
Jesse K:

hey Gary!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:06pm
Gary:

Play some awesomeness, I just got laid off this morning + need awesomeness
Avatar 8:07pm
Jesse K:

I saw that, I'm so sorry to hear Gary. Let me see what I might have for you...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:08pm
Gary:

This Nash the Slash counts, btw :) ... but, yes, I'll take more!
Avatar 8:14pm
northguineahills:

djing doesn't require actual bands to separate 'songs'. Mix sounds as you see fit!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:21pm
listener james from westwood:

Damn, Gary, sorry to hear about the layoff. Between Doug & Jesse it's been awesomeness all night! Open a bottle and enjoy the tunes.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:25pm
Gary:

Thanks, James ... am looking forward to hearing the Joe Lewis fest later -- the archives are already up for that
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:28pm
Gary:

This Guardian Alien is pretty great right now, I hafta say
Avatar 8:29pm
Jesse K:

only takes about 18 minutes to get here
Avatar 8:30pm
northguineahills:

Holy shit Gary, that sucks! I was laid off during xmas as De Blasio defunded my project and I was just a subcontractor. I've had many phone interviews (some second interviews), but most have been 6 weeks after sending my resume and another 4 weeks before the second interview. Things are getting lean. Hopefully, your craft doesn't have such bureaucratic malaise. (I pretty much need to leave the city to get a non-government job).
Avatar 8:31pm
northguineahills:

So, who is Guardian Alien? They don't sound like a cookie-cutter Thrill Jockey band.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:32pm
Gary:

Damn, NGH, I seem to recall you mentioning what you going through before. My fingers are crossed for you!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:33pm
Mike East:

I know someone looking for help at a food tent at an EDM festival in NY Memorial Day weekend if anyone's looking to make 10 bucks an hour cash.
Sorry for your crisis, Gary.
Avatar 8:33pm
Jesse K:

Guardian Alien is a Greg Fox thing from Liturgy
Avatar 8:34pm
Jesse K:

I mean Greg Fox from Liturgy started Guardian Alien
Avatar 8:36pm
northguineahills:

I'll keep that in mind Mike, if nothing pans out over the next week. Things are getting lean. I'll be back to living like a college lad by the end of summer.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:38pm
Gary:

I love this song, Jesse!

And, Mike, I don't want to take this from NGH if there's only one oppty, but please email me about it -- I want to work! (Email through my profile here)
Avatar 8:41pm
Jesse K:

man, I can't wait to join you guys in a couple of weeks as an relatively unemployable mfa
Avatar 8:41pm
northguineahills:

The first time I heard the term EDM, was through Anthony Bourdain. I used to help with marketing for Mutek here in NYC (for a free all-access pass in Montreal) (I used to frequent small minimal techno parties back in the day.)

Whooda:

@Jesse K Congrats on the MFA!
Avatar 8:44pm
Jesse K:

thanks Whooda, not yet though. then the fun part starts of paying it all back
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:47pm
Gary:

I have a lowly BA in English / Creative Writing, but because I got it in the 80s I was able to pay for it all by washing dishes and prepping food.
Avatar 8:49pm
northguineahills:

It took me 10 years to pay back my graduate student loans (Geography/Computer Science). It didn't help I had major medical bills due to an accident 11 years ago.

Avatar 8:51pm
northguineahills:

Ok, Hurriyet is the major English language Turkish news site. Anyone know the translation (I suppose I could ask some Turkish friends)
Avatar 8:52pm
Whooda:

No worries Jesse, it only took me a couple of decades to get the MA down to a few thousands before finally having the balance of the loan written-off due to mental illness. Now living in van. Thank God I didn't go for the MFA, I don't think I would have survived the consequences. HAHA
Avatar 8:52pm
Jesse K:

I still owe a lot on my undergrad that I finished in 2001, think I'll be paying for a while. It's worth it so far...
Avatar 8:54pm
Whooda:

I used the student loan money to live and raise family on, allowed full time art study too. No regrets. I do feel very bad for you and other youngsters that are really getting screwed financially. I had moved to CA when I did because community college was free then.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:57pm
listener james from westwood:

Not to further darken the party, but the director of "Searching for Sugar Man" has died. 36!! WT actual F?! variety.com...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:58pm
Gary:

Yeah, James, I saw that. They haven't said how, yet -- not in what I read, anyway ... :(
Avatar 8:59pm
northguineahills:

Holy smith james! WTF! Wow!

(and I'm north of that age)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:00pm

Wait, the show's over? *tear*
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:01pm

Yah, that was one swift 2 hours. And by swift I mean delightful. Thanks a ton for the show, Jesse!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:06pm

Night everyone, and thanks, Jesse!
