We've all been there. My current hangover cure: salt & vinegar potato chips and a can of ginger ale.

Salt & vinegar potato chips and a can of ginger ale—that's my cure for everything from scurvy to jake leg.

Casey Kasem spotted in Washington state
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:15pm
listener james from westwood:

Man, I wish I could still do the ginger ale thing. Early-childhood saturation in the stuff following a tonsillectomy set me against it, seemingly for life.
That Kasem story was frightening for a bit. Some of the descriptions of the caretaker relationship were reminiscent of those between Groucho Marx and his final, less than stellar wife.
Avatar 2:15pm
Carmichael:

Tequila makes me scream and throw furniture. No more for me, thanks. But a great India Pale Ale will do just fine.

The only craving my wife got during pregnancy was for ginger ale. I got it, too, sympathetically. Or maybe just pathetically.

Those Mormons just wanted Hughes to give them their blood back.

I likes the ginger ale but you have to go looking for the exception or the newer craft versions to find some that the mad malevolent corn syrup pushers haven't dicked with.

The bar is open, I see. Something without corn syrup for me, too, please.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:27pm

I'm always looking for the hottest ginger ale I can find.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:28pm
Doug Schulkind:

Vernor's Ginger Ale is always a refreshing refreshment, provided you didn't want to peel the paint you'd previously quaffed.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:28pm
pacific standard simon:

Crabbie's Alcoholic Ginger Beer is what you want. It's $3 a bottle, though, which is highway robbery.
Avatar 2:30pm

For tear-inducing ginger ale we go with Blenheim.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:30pm
Uncle Michael:

Vernors is good but it's not hot. I don't usually want any alcohol in it but I'd like to try that Crabbie's.

I need to try Blenheim's Hot.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:36pm

Dang, you guys must have some pretty bad-ass 7-11s in your nabes. I have to make do with Fresh Ginger's product, and it's often work to find even that.
Avatar 2:36pm
still b/p:

Speaking of blood.....The story this week about young blood making old mice young again had me worried immediately not just about about enterprising fraudsters but also about blood-harvesting by criminally ghoulish, murderous and inhuman means for the wealthy who'll pay anything for the fountain of youth. My blood ain't young enough to be worth the price of a ginger ale, a donut or a few Swedish fish at the penny candy store.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:37pm
Uncle Michael:

Fresh Ginger?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:38pm
listener james from westwood:

still b/p: Larry Niven postulated a future in which organ rejection has been eliminated, so the demand for transplantable organs has led society to make a vast array of crimes capital offenses. Amateur harvesters of donors also arise, and are referred to as organleggers.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:39pm

I think Reeds has an Extra Ginger variety that is pretty hot.

My first record-company junket, in 1978, was to Pasadena TX for a showcase at Gilley's starring Freddy Fender, Tommy McLain, and Warren Storm. Freddy was fat as hell but still sounded great -- those Tejana chicks were FALLING OUT over him! Remember thinking that I wasn't just the only Jew in that place but very possibly the only unarmed man...

Speaking of Give the Drummer Some, I sure would like to hear you play Cold Sweat (parts 1 and 2), sung by the hardest working man in show business, Mr. James Brown!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:06pm
Matt F:

I would too, but first I have to finish doing this stupid show!
  3:12pm
Andy S.:

Re: Gilley's '78. Tommy McLain had some early face-growth but nothing like he's sporting today. Warren Storm told me that although he'd been playing music since the '50s, I was the first person ever to interview him. He was fairly astonished that I knew his name, that he'd played with Lightnin' Slim, etc. It was my first trip to Texas!

Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:40pm

Jaro, you wearing giant falling-down pants to complete the ensemble?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:41pm
Matt F:

Was it the star-click that made the record skip? Be careful!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:43pm
Parq:

That record with a skip beats a dozen other records in perfect digital format. By the way, that sounded somewhat different than I remember it. Is there more than one take of that song out there, or am I just having another senior moment?
