I read on Deadspin that that hero cat is going to throw out the first pitch at a local minor league game. (The cat dropped some in my estimation for not declining the offer. But it's still a good cat.)

No, I wanted to take the stream on the road but the stereo stream would use up the data plan too quickly. The app has an option for WFMU mono for that but not GTDR mono.

actually overdoing it with noise-reduction software on historic recordings can be really annoying on lota budget (and not only budget) re-issue CDs with otherwise superb recordings. I prefer the original surface noise in doubt. And some music cannot be easily de-clickt withou heavy damages.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:34am Webhamster Henry:

Don't start. Consider yourself one of the lucky ones.

When my daughter was five, we played a game we invented called "Air Tic-Tac-Toe." It required no pencil or paper. We just assigned each of the nine boxes a number, 1-9 from top left to bottom right, and then called out in turn the box we were claiming. We thought we were just so damn smart!

We still play every once in a while, just for old time's sake.

  11:12am Dean:

@Doug, I'm with you, but I used to love visiting a friend in Fairfield, CT, around Memorial Day, when a local radio station would devote the whole morning to Zappa. Also, Cruisin' with Ruben & the Jets really is one of the best rock records, and I love Zappa's arrangement of Stairway to Heaven.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:16am TR In MI:

Best Zappa for my money is the original Mothers band, especially the first 3 albums. There's something to be said for the combination of avant-garde 20th classical and greasy doo-wop.
  11:16am Dean:

Precisely, Doug. Hence the immersion effect of a Memorial Day in Fairfield.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:17am Guido from Cologne:

Is there a statute regadring Vilnius in your country, Brian?
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 11:27am Brian in UK:

@Uncle Michael a George Martin produced comedy retrospective?
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 11:28am Brian in UK:

@Carmichael Can you explain his popularity in Lithuania?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:29am Uncle Michael:

Brian, that would be preferable.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:29am Doug Schulkind:

Here is a statue at the Jersey City waterfront, two blocks from WFMU: www.njcu.edu...
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 11:30am Brian in UK:

Spare a thought for those poor Turkish miners.
Avatar 11:30am dc pat:

Man @Carm, I totally disagree. He was funny as hell--it's the fusion crap that I can't take. Oh well. moving on.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:30am Doug Schulkind:

Hahaha! You said statute, Carmichael. I thought you said "statue."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:30am Guido from Cologne:

I own a very very beautiful single by Alpay,
kinda turkish surf-beat backed by a beat ballad.

Unfortunately noone could tell me something about this guy. except he's not seen so much in turk-rock context.
Avatar 🥁 11:31am βrian:

All music makes me think of food.
Avatar 11:31am dc pat:

man. That statute wins hand down as the weirdest statute ever. What did somebody in an airplane check a rifle at that guy and it hit him square in the back??
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:31am Doug Schulkind:

This Kuni Kawachi tune is the second I've played on the show today that opened with tympani.

My. Work. Is. Done.
Avatar 11:32am dc pat:

*chuck...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:34am Doug Schulkind:

The first track coming up in the next (and, sadly) final sequence of the show will be the FIRST RECORD EVER by one of the world's most famous musical artists. And his brothers. Can you guess who it will be??
Avatar 11:35am Carmichael:

Trying to be wry, Doug. It fell flat, like rye instead.
