A viking ship appears on the horizon, a likeness of Alice Coltrane carved into its bow. Rare birds flock together to sing Francoise Hardy as soul hits. A sunset of blips and bleeps fills the air.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:52am

@Brian: Summer arrived overnight here - quite warm and sunny today. And funny you should ask, they finally opened the "city tunnel" here a few months ago after around a decade of construction. But it is not really an underground system with only four underground stations for local trains to cut through town. There is an extensive tram (streetcar) system, though.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:54am
Brian in UK:

We are moving back to trams around the country, especially in Manchester.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:56am
Brian in UK:

Davex the metro that is under construction in Istanbul is a wonderment. Digging through three cities has unearthed so many treasures, the Archaeology museum cannot cope.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:56am
davex:

That sounds like a good idea. We're actually spoiled for public transport here. We rarely need a car.

Get Joe to talk about his hustlin' days in the Dragons! How he got money from gangsters like a lot of Doo Wop was funded earlier (see 'Save the Last Dance with the Devil', Nick Toches).
Avatar 10:48am

Were there any gangsters that helped him? Got him breaks and the like?

BTW The Toches book about the Mob and Doo Wop would probably really interest your guests and yourself. Quick read and super interesting. www.amazon.com...

When are U, Joe and other 60's-70's musician going to do a gig in FLorida for the growing Hispanic population. No Miami is not the only city. Debary, Deltiona, Daytona Beach. I miss NYC's salsa scene, but have been privy to many platic collector music inlcuding Joe, you and many others ggowing up in Black Harlem 125th St.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:45am

no real crossover with last poets and babs, joe says. worked at same time, but not together

Avatar 11:49am

for clarity I'm referring to his alleged first rap record etc. Last Poets and Gonzalez were rapping at that time though it wasn't called rap till much later. More like Beat Poetry. What comments has Joe got to offer on this subject?
