Missed the new Atmosphere, anyone have any thoughts?
I was just looking at my Napster-era God Loves Ugly, Lucy Ford etc. files and laughing at the mess & low bit rates. Remember s-l-o-w-l-y dling 1 song at a time? And being superlatively excited & thankful?

@Droll I need to start start uploading my many, many, MANY cds before they disintegrate. Have been pretty lucky so far but thinking the first generation 80s-era discs must be on the way out. Most of my CDr are already failing. Sucks.

d.francis:

A friend just picked up What You Want Is In The Limo.
I'm psyched to read it.
Does the title refer to the Bowie song Fame?
(is this a stupid question?)

Daniel
  9:56pm
Lonely Planet Boy:

i dunno, Holly. 1st CD i ever bought was Pretenders' debut, made in West Germany(that's how old). still sounds as good as Rhino's remaster, which cost $24.

I really did like it, Evan. Codgers unite <fist in the air>!

Speaking of Bowie, hearing some Bowie licks in this Coathangers song!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:01pm
efd:

hey Daniel! Not a stupid question - I always assumed the title was taken from that song, even though the book is talking about events that happened a couple years before that song came out.
  10:03pm
d.francis:

yeah, that was a tad confusing.
REALLY enjoyed that show.
nice job as always!

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:07pm

d.f., I think the lyric suits the book well, and you could argue that it's the events described in the book that set up the culture of fame in many ways. Glad you enjoyed that show!

My friend Lou says no.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:11pm

you're half-right - the song is "Saturday Night Fever" by Lordz Of Brooklyn, but it includes a sample from American Woman!

In the mid-80s, I had a cassette with a couple of Led Zep albums on it. I'd listen to it each morning while getting ready for work. In a few days, it'd reach the end and then I'd flip it over for the next few days of music.
