Listener comments!
🥁 9:04am : Morning Bob...Happy record fair weekend9:27am : Oops!9:28am : Okay, I'm awake now!9:36am : my plan is to make it to the record fair before the end of Michael Shelley9:49am : Good record fair morning everyone.
I wish I could go, and I really wish I could go see Laura Cantrell. For some reason her tours never stop in Paris (I guess the lack of a market for her music is that reason, France sucked even before it was made official last Sunday)9:53am : All the people I know who are going to the record fair are going tomorrow during Laura Cantrell. I almost did, too, but it turns out I'm going into the city today anyway to play some music. I have no desire to make two trips into NYC on my weekend.9:56am : The Beach Boys 'Stack O'Tracks' collection has long been a favorite, so much so that whenever I hear new instrumental tracks by the band, I'm consistently floored. But I don't think I've ever heard one more unusual and fascinating than the bed for 20/20's "Time To Get Alone" which you just played. Even knowing the song as well as I do - it's been a favorite for over 40 years - it's difficult to imagine the Boys singing along, as the backing music inhabits its own harmonic entity almost entirely, leaving their vocals to complete a very different task. Which is sufficiently breath-taking to get me out of bed and typing very early in a Los Angeles morning. Thanks, Bob. Wish I could buy that one!10:25am : Bob, is this a recent release of the Zombies album?10:28am : Swirl labels? Ian Matthews ("Tigers Will Survive" era) had some LPs on the Vertigo label. They went to the max, putting all the track listings on one side, so the other side could be an unadorned circular design spiral, presumably to make you dizzy...10:35am : Glad to hear the Armory is so big. Last year at Metro Pavillion, I had a baby carriage and it was a huge pain in the ass to navigate and I felt bad for running people over. This year, I'll have a baby backpack which takes up a smaller footprint anyway.10:36am : My company ran sound there a few times and I'm told it was impossible to mix because of the echo.10:37am : Imagine the Swan
